About the Role
We are seeking an Associate General Counsel - Product to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with teams across Life360 to advise on product development across the Life360 family of mobile software applications and hardware devices, including Tile and Jiobit. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Product & Privacy.
In this role, you will counsel software and hardware teams on consumer protection, privacy, advertising and marketing matters. You will also handle legal and regulatory matters related to hardware devices sold around the world. The role involves providing legal counsel across business functions.
The US-based salary range for this position is $195,500 to $287,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do
- Advise engineering and product teams—including hardware device teams—on legal and regulatory issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Provide counsel on privacy and data protection matters, ensuring compliance with global regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Advise on consumer protection, marketing, and advertising matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the design and delivery of innovative hardware and software solutions, addressing legal considerations specific to hardware manufacturing and sales globally.
- Monitor and provide guidance on evolving privacy, consumer protection, and technology regulations, helping Life360 stay ahead of regulatory trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk management strategies.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of legal experience in product counseling for consumer technology companies, including a minimum of 3 years of in-house experience. A mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience advising software product managers and engineers on consumer protection and privacy matters.
- Strong understanding of international regulations related to hardware manufacturing and sale is strongly desired.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and membership in at least one state bar.
