Job description

As Senior Legal Officer - Labour Relations, you will provide confident counsel and efficient support to leadership and colleagues across teams within Meliore, particularly to our People & Culture team, in global employment law, labour law and social security matters as well as employment relations. Your primary aim will be to provide support and guidance in line with our values, JEDI principles and ambition to offer an excellent staff experience across our network of members based in nearly forty countries around the world. Covering for the temporary absence / maternity leave of our Senior Legal Officer - Labour Relations, you will be the trusted in-house expert on global employment law, labour law, social security matters, legal aspects of employment relations and consultancy contracts


In this role, you will:

  • be part of the Meliore legal team and will report to the General Counsel;
  • be part of and collaborate closely with the Global Operations Team, particularly the People and Culture Team;
  • provide legal advice and regulatory and compliance support to a number of Meliore teams and affiliates, globally.


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, curious, analytical and pragmatic legal professional who enjoys working in dynamic and diverse international settings.


This is a maternity cover appointment until the end of December 2025.


How you'll contribute


  • Be the trusted go-to and in-house expert on the legal aspects of global employment law and consultancy contracts, labour law, social security matters, advising on relations with work councils, managing employment litigation files if any, etc.;
  • In collaboration with the operations team, help design and implement guidelines, templates, processes and information sessions/training for team members on relevant legal matters;
  • Be involved in policies reviews and updates, or in other projects depending on your experience;
  • Provide awareness raising and education to staff from a legal perspective;
  • Be the main point of contact for our external global law firm network for Labour Relations;
  • Be the legal partner for talent justice policies (e.g. Safeguarding, Grievance, Disciplinary, Harassment Bullying Discrimination, Code of Conduct);
  • Represent the team to external stakeholders as needed.


Our ideal candidate has


  • You hold a university degree in law, or equivalent professional qualification, preference for familiarity with international regulations e.g. International Labour Organisation conventions and standards;
  • You have proven professional experience (3+ years) in labour law in a global organisation;
  • You have experience with employment matters in several geographies;
  • You have a very good understanding and experience of human resources management;
  • You demonstrate sound judgement, diplomacy, tact and discretion, upholding ethics and integrity;
  • You are a true problem solver and have an analytical mind. You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyse complex issues and make pragmatic recommendations balancing risks and impact;
  • You are able to approach and communicate legal advice in a practical manner, suited to the needs of Meliore and in a way that is easily understandable to teams;
  • You have strong networking skills that enable effective collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders;
  • You have a strong interest in climate and the environment.
  • You are organised, have a high degree of autonomy, are able to prioritise and have a keen eye for detail.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English (both spoken and written), additional languages a plus.
