Job description

Paradigm is a software company transforming the way that the residential, construction & building product industries operate across the globe. Our Cloud Team is looking for a highly motivated and driven Database Administrator - Cloud to join us in maintaining our cloud-hosted Postgres and Mircosoft SQL Server estate.

What You Will Do:

You will manage the implementation and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases in the cloud.
You will be a subject matter expert in PostgreSQL.
You will review and execute scripts in both production and lower lifecycle environments.
You will manage and maintain database backup and recovery procedures to minimize data loss and ensure data availability.
You will monitor database performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks and ensure optimal performance for PostgreSQL and SQL Server using Quest Foglight, pgAdmin, SQL Server Management Studio and Azure/AWS portals.
You will troubleshoot database issues and provide solutions to minimize downtime.
You will develop and enforce database security policies to protect customer data and prevent unauthorized access.
You will ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
You will implement corporate disaster recovery strategies to minimize the impact of system failures and natural disasters.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business applications and ensure integration with other systems.
You will provide PostgreSQL technical guidance and mentorship to fellow database administrators.
You will stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in database administration to continuously improve database performance and security.
You will automate database administration processes wherever possible.
You will provide support of production deployments, product upgrades, disaster recovery exercises, and security & compliance audits.
You will modify and schedule SQL Server Agent jobs.
You will provide after hours and weekend support.

What You Need to Succeed:

You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent), or equivalent professional experience.
You have a basic knowledge of network security and the Windows Server Operating System
You have 3+ years of database management in a professional environment (preferred).
You have 2+ years of Postgres database administration experience in a professional environment (required).
You have 1+ years of Cloud experience (Azure & AWS) in a professional environment (required).
You have a proven understanding of index tuning, query optimization, and performance tuning.
You have a basic understanding of SQL Server.
You have demonstrated experience with the Windows Operating System (preferred).
You are comfortable with one or more scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, etc.).
You enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and you can adapt to changing demands and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You are known for your dependability & organization.
Ability to take direction and work independently to creatively meet business objectives. You are a good teammate who likes to collaborate and has good communication skills.
You may get to travel out of the country! A valid passport or ability to obtain passport that allows for travel outside of the US is required.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Most roles at Paradigm have three levels, Associate, Mid and Senior. Our pay ranges are inclusive of all three levels (if applicable), our US based Associate level pay begins at $72,825 annually for this role. The salary does not reflect total compensation, which includes base salary and benefits. These compensation levels are subject to an annual review.
