Job description

Company Description
Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We build, power, and evolve the tools and technologies that connect millions of entrepreneurs with millions of buyers around the world. As an Etsy Inc. employee, whether a team member of Etsy, Reverb, or Depop, you will tackle unique, meaningful, and large-scale problems alongside passionate coworkers, all the while making a rewarding impact and Keeping Commerce Human.

What’s the role?

We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern to help build new and amazing experiences for people buying and selling on Etsy.

As a Software Engineering Intern you will join Etsy to take on practical problems in a strong engineering environment, while being mentored by some of the most dedicated engineers in the industry. We're looking for full-stack engineers. The teams working on each feature are pretty small (a few engineers, a designer, and a product manager), so there's a lot of significant collaboration.

Because we're making user-facing features, we believe strongly in gathering and analyzing numerical data to help guide our decisions. To that end, you'll be able to use our in-house analytics tools to gather information and gain insights. You'll also be able to use Etsy's Continuous Deployment architecture to push code to production whenever you please (and you'll probably push on your first day here).

Do you find joy in collaborating with peers on solutions and taking risks by experimenting with technology to improve a product? If so, this could be the perfect match.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager and the base salary range will be $30 - $35 EUR per hour.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in Dublin, Ireland. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Dublin Office Hub may be the first to be considered.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Etsy’s internship program is taking place from May 20th to Aug 22nd, 2025.

  • Interns are placed on real teams, working alongside real engineers on projects that deliver results for our Buyers and Sellers. Our teams are made up of cross functional team members from product management, engineering, design, and data analysis. This is how we build great products and provide opportunities to work beside other disciplines in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

  • Interns typically undergo a 3 weeks working through onboarding modules to familiarize themselves with Etsy’s codebase and from there work directly with the team attending daily standups, taking on tickets and having real time impact on Etsy.com.

  • Etsy’s intern program offers Mentorship, Technical Talk series, Internal panels, Executive Fireside Chats, social events and more!

  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field degree

  • Available to work full time for 3 months outside of university term time

  • You believe in the connective power of Etsy’s peer-to-peer marketplace, and want to create the code that will make it stronger

  • Want to make a meaningful impact on the world around you

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Can be autonomous and self-driven

  • Get inspired on a daily basis, think of new ideas and like to share them with others

  • Ability to communicate in English fluently
