Lead Product Designer
Summary
HackerOne is seeking an experienced product designer to join our growing digital first team. As a Lead Product Designer, you know that design isn’t just about aesthetics – it’s the art of making things usable.
As part of your product area, you will take ownership of all parts of the design process, including problem definition, vision, approach, decisions, interaction design, user research, and usability testing. You'll work hand in hand with the product manager and engineers to drive the product forward.
The ideal candidate is creative and innovative and has the organizational skills to plan and execute initiatives to improve the overall product experience. You will work with product and development teams primarily based in the US and the Netherlands.

Your journey at HackerOne
30 Days: Onboarding and Integration
Understand company culture, mission, business model, and workflow.
Familiarize with current Assessment offerings focusing on PTaaS, tools, and customer/community needs.
Meet key stakeholders: product teams, cybersecurity professionals, sales, and marketing.
Identify initial pain points in current product design and user experience.
60 Days: Analysis and Strategy Development
Analyze user feedback, market trends, and competitor offerings.
Collaborate on new features or enhancements.
Sketch and prototype design improvements.
Gather feedback on proposed designs.
90 Days: Implementation and Iteration
Finalize and implement new designs.
Collaborate with marketing and sales on product improvements.
Set up metrics for measuring design impact.
Iterate based on feedback and metrics.
Responsibilities
Work closely with product managers and engineers to design product experiences that our customers and hackers love.
Own the entire design process from start to implementation, including user research, wireframes, prototypes, and detail-oriented visual designs for engineering teams.
Present your work and the thinking behind it at weekly design critiques with the broader design team.
Champion our growing Design Language System by leveraging its existing patterns and advocating for new ones to ensure consistency throughout our products
Identify and communicate design rationale and tradeoffs to key stakeholders
Pivot between contributing to high-level product decisions and understanding the low-level implications of those decisions
Keep your Figma files organized and collaborative, enabling other designers and engineers to quickly understand where you are in a project and how they can collaborate
Who you are
8+ of UX and product design experience
A strong understanding of UX and product interaction problems.
Experience in conducting user interviews, usability tests and summary of findings.
Excellent practical skills in Figma, including prototyping.
Solid front-end development understanding.
The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders based on their input.
Must be based in Washington DC or Austin Tx. HackerOne is a flexible work environment. Candidates must be able to thrive in a remote environment.
Compensation Bands: 160k-200k
