PLI is searching for a multimedia professional to fill the role of Live Event Specialist (On-Call) (responsibilities and qualifications are described below) in our San Francisco office. The Live Event Specialist is tasked with operating and maintaining all technical aspects of live event production in a broadcast/corporate setting. This role demands the management of audiovisual systems integration, coordination of live broadcasts, and professional execution of events, ensuring proactive and efficient problem resolution. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Director: Direct the show for both conference room and web audiences using a production switcher (Tricaster/Panasonic), manage tags for lower thirds, synchronize PowerPoint presentations for web viewers, and collaborate with other specialists to meet event goals. 
  • Audio Technician: Mix live audio for in-room and online audiences, set up and test video conferencing systems like Zoom, use audio meters for live audio monitoring, and adjust levels as needed to ensure optimal sound quality. 
  • Video Technician: Synchronize webcast streams with local recordings, monitor for any audio or video issues during live broadcasts, create program graphics, titles, and lower thirds, and prepare commercials for playback during breaks. 
  • Floor Manager: Monitor the live event from the venue, communicate with presenters, assist with session setups, and handle any technical difficulties, ensuring smooth event progression. 
  • Studio Setup, Operation & Breakdown: Managing the full process of building and dismantling studio environments, including moving and arranging tables, chairs, and equipment, setting up black backdrops, multi-camera systems, tripods, advanced lighting, boom and lavalier microphones, and other newsroom-style production tools for seamless operation and teardown. 
  • Control Room Operations: Supervise and lead control room operations, manage a team of technicians, and ensure all operations run smoothly during live events. 
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Quickly identify and resolve technical issues during live events to maintain continuity and quality of the broadcast. 
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of all event specifications and technical setups and ensure compliance with all safety and broadcasting standards. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Video Production, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or related field strongly preferred. 
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in live event production, with experience in entertainment, web, broadcast, or cable television. 
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Production Suite, audio and video production software and hardware, Final Cut Pro, Dante, Production Switcher, Vizrt, Newtek NDI Tools, and modern broadcasting equipment. 
  • Team Skills: Strong communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage stress and perform under tight deadlines.

COMPENSATION RANGE FOR THIS POSITION

$31 - $35 per hour 

(Exact compensation offer may vary based on the candidate’s job-related skills and work experience.)
