Purpose:

The Actuarial Associate III will provide support within a satellite office (Pearl River, NY) for the development, analysis and reporting of quarterly Cash Flow Testing, statutory financial reporting, control execution and documentation, and annual Plan for Athene’s New York companies.

This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting and implementation of process improvements. The Actuarial Associate III will also provide expert commentary and analysis to Appointed Actuary and internal management.


Accountabilities:

  • Timely preparation of complete and accurate reporting for Cash Flow Testing, statutory reserves, and annual Plan.
  • Coding and running of MG-ALFA models to support ALM and CFT initiatives
  • Project management and coordination of key projects across multiple departments to make sure everything is progressing to meet key deadlines
  • Work with internal and external resources to ensure proper data and assumption setting in models, with accurate results in compliance with actuarial standards.
  • Actively monitor regulatory and legislative environment related to annuity valuation and financial reporting. Contemplate potential impacts and develop recommendations.
  • Provide support to internal/external auditors, insurance departments, Risk and Finance on all related requests.
  • Liaise across multiple functional departments and locations to ensure effective actuarial representation, definition and delivery of actuarial requirements to and from other departments, and clear and effective communication of actuarial results.
  • Support year-end reporting requirements such as Bluebooks, actuarial opinion and memorandum and all required certifications.
  • Assist in enhancing and executing control framework.
  • Flexible work environment with hybrid work from home and office with occasionally travel to home office in Iowa.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related field
  • ASA preferred.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience required.
  • Knowledge in statutory reserving, cash flow testing and ALM preferred.
  • Experience with actuarial modeling/valuation software preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication and critical thinking skills.


$96,400.00 - $144,600.00 USD Annual


Annual Salary for this role is market competitive.  Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.  Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
