PROJECT CONTEXT
Bridge for Billions is a social enterprise committed to democratizing access to entrepreneurship resources. We offer innovative programs designed to foster social entrepreneurship and provide support for early-stage startups. As part of our commitment to sustainable urban development, we have partnered with the IN-HABIT H2020 project, a research initiative under the European Union's Horizon 2020 framework.
IN-HABIT H2020 (Inclusive Health and Wellbeing in Small and Medium-sized Cities) aims to foster inclusive, healthy, and sustainable urban environments through innovative, people-centered approaches. The project focuses on integrating a diversity of cultural, social, and economic perspectives to create environments that enhance the well-being of all citizens. Our role in the project is to explore market opportunities and develop strategies that ensure the sustainability and commercial viability of the project outcomes.
Scope of works
To achieve the goals of the IN-HABIT H2020 project, Bridge for Billions seeks a qualified Research Specialist with expertise in European H2020 project deliverables research pieces to contribute to the development of the project’s final report deliverable on Replicable business models to boost IHW (Inclusive Health and Wellbeing), expanding on the replicability of the business models from the supported solution in boosting Inclusive Health and Wellbeing at a regional level. This report will showcase the final exploitation strategy and business analysis concerning the commercial uses of such solutions, showcasing all the classical elements of a business model, considering necessary key activities, necessary resources and partnerships, foreseen cost structure and revenue streams, need for related financial investment, the relevant stakeholders to be mobilized or addressed to actuate the business model, etc. The data collected for new business model creation offers valuable information to optimize scalability and replicability.
This will be a public report exhibiting suitable socio-economic performance and high potential to boost health & well-being in each of the project's target cities, resulting from the implemented work. All public reports must follow the provided template and guidelines.
CONTRACTED SERVICES
Bridge for Billions seeks a Research Consultant to work remotely under a service agreement as a consultant service provider. The primary responsibility of the Research Specialist is to design, manage, and deliver the research work outlined in the “Scope of Works” section, resulting in a comprehensive public report on replicable business models to boost Inclusive Health and Wellbeing (IHW).
The Research Specialist will contribute to identifying commercialization opportunities and crafting strategies that align with the objectives of the IN-HABIT H2020 project.
Expected Contributions:
Market Research & Analysis
- Conduct market research to identify and evaluate potential markets that align with the project’s outcomes and objectives, focusing on opportunities for commercialization.
- Analyze the entire value chain to uncover potential partnerships and alliances that support the project’s implementation and long-term sustainability.
Strategic Planning & Development
- Develop preliminary strategies outlining pathways for market entry and sustainable growth of the project's outcomes.
- Describe methodologies for further exploring the replicability and scalability of identified business models and commercialization strategies.
Identification of Business Partners
- Map out potential alliances and partners across the entire value chain to enhance the project's sustainability and impact.
Collaboration & Alignment
- Work closely with the Bridge for Billions team and partner organizations within the IN-HABIT consortium.
- Ensure the research strategy and outcomes align with the overarching goals of the IN-HABIT H2020 project.
Report Design & Delivery
- Manage the design, content creation, and delivery of a well-structured final report that includes all research findings, analysis, and strategic recommendations, ensuring alignment with the project’s goals, as per the project guidelines. The final report is due by the end of Q2/2025.
- The report shall synthesize research findings and provide clear recommendations for market entry, partnerships, and commercialization pathways.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in research, particularly in European projects (e.g., H2020, Horizon Europe, etc.).
- Strong analytical and research skills, with a solid understanding of market analysis and business strategy development.
- Proficiency in the CANVAS model and other commercialization methodologies to guide strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write clear, structured research reports in English.
This role requires a detail-oriented and self-driven professional who can independently manage the research project while working closely with the consortium partners to ensure that all research and strategic goals are met.
DURATION OF CONTRACT & COMPENSATION
The contract will commence as soon as possible, starting in February 2025 and running until the final approval of the report by the European Commission (EC) reviewers, following the conclusion of the project.
The report delivery deadline for public submission is June 2025, although the project officially concludes in September 2025. The EC reviewers will then assess the submitted report, either approving or rejecting it. If the report is rejected, revisions will be required to address the feedback provided by the reviewers.
Applicants are required to submit a budget proposal as part of their application. Once confirmed, the agreed-upon fee will cover all research and deliverable-related expenses. Payments will be made based on the completion of key milestones, as outlined below.
Contract Format: Consultancy contract with Bridge for Billions SL (a Spanish-based company).
Location: Remote work (no travel is anticipated for this project).
