Job description

Title : Manager - National Direct Marketing

Employee Working Location : Remote (Canada)

Employment Status : Temporary Full-time (16 Months)

Salary Band : $64,870 - $81,087 / year

In this role, you will :

  • Effectively manage the Marketing Coordinator dedicated to the Core annual direct mail programs.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, lead the Core control and testing strategies for the direct mail program.
  • Ensure organizational fundraising goals are met by ensuring campaigns deploy according to set timelines and budget.
  • In collaboration with the agency, manage campaign development, including review and approval of the of the project brief, supply of relevant content and feedback at all stages of production.
  • Review and approve artwork and live laser samples in a timely manner to confirm data appears correctly in relation to established segments, test files, etc.
  • Manage external vendor(s) including production management and ongoing vendor performance management, escalating when appropriate.
  • Manage the data for campaigns with internal staff and agencies, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Work closely with Business Operations staff to ensure that direct mail needs are met in terms of proper tracking and coding for campaigns as well as accuracy of entry.
  • Ensure the Senior Manager is aware of any risks to the mail schedule and/or program quality.
  • Actively look for opportunities to engage direct mail donors in other ways, working with internal colleagues on any integrated touchpoints as required.
  • Work with colleagues to inform strategies to convert direct mail donors to monthly giving.
  • Facilitate any work required to execute emergency appeals.
  • Manage the digital integration of key direct mail campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyze direct mail program results based on Society Key Performance Indicators to inform strategic decisions regarding the mail program.

What we are looking for :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in marketing, communications, fund development or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive, relevant experience in direct marketing.
  • Superior analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information and to communicate it to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing strategic direction in the development and implementation of direct mail marketing campaigns designed to achieve growth and net objectives.
  • Superior knowledge of direct mail donor relation principles and data segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM an asset.
  • Ability to effectively develop strong cross-functional partnerships, evidenced by a track record of teamwork and relationship building.
  • Excellent management and team building skills with demonstrated supervision and leadership qualities, superior interpersonal and public relations skills, tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated project management with excellent organizational, planning and hands-on implementation and strong presentation skills.
  • The ability to manage effectively in a changing environment with multiple conflicting demands.
  • Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
