About This Role

Through cutting-edge science and medicine, Biogen passionately seeks to discover, develop and deliver innovative therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease and autoimmune disorders, to patients worldwide.

Joining us as Medical Advisor, you will work in a field-based customer facing role, with activities focused on Key Medical Experts (KMEs) and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) with the intent to maximise medical one-on-one interactions with KMEs/HCPs. Approximately 50-70% travel is expected in the role and you are required to be based in Ankara or Istanbul.

As Medical Advisor, Turkiye, you will act as a scientific expert, with a comprehensive knowledge of Biogen products, disease state and competitor products. You will establish long term scientific/strategic relationships with leading specialists (physicians nurses, allied health professionals) and with related medical societies and academic centers of excellence. In this role you will ensure that KMEs/HCPs and scientific and academic centres/organizations have access to relevant and informative scientific information and you will facilitate KME/HCP involvement in educational forums and advisory boards to optimize appropriate and meaningful scientific knowledge exchange. You will serve as an important partner to internal stakeholders through the communication of relevant information.

What You’ll Do

Key Medical Expert (KME) and Healthcare Practitioner (HCP) Engagement:

  • Identify KMEs/HCPs and work in collaboration with respective commercial counterparts in engaging KOLs from a medical perspective
  • Develop, maintain and implement KME/HCP engagement plans to build and maintain strong scientific relationships, such that Biogen is recognised as an industry partner of choice
  • Plan KME/HCP visits and utilise the CRM database to record KME/HCP interactions
  • Provide current, accurate and balanced scientific education to KMEs/HCPs and facilitate data discussions in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Provide scientific presentations to individual physicians or groups of physicians, e.g. scientific seminars, round table meetings, journal clubs etc.
  • Source and brief international and local speakers for national and regional meetings in Turkiye, according to internal processes
  • Act as a liaison between investigators and Biogen ensuring regular communication regarding the progress of clinical research

Internal Collaboration:

  • Work with relevant commercial counterparts to address specific local (country) needs from a medical perspective, in alignment with both medical and commercial brand plans
  • Contribute to in-field medical training of commercial field launch team
  • Collaborate with relevant medical and CF Launch team/s to develop strategy and execute tactics on the communication of complex scientific information to relevant KMEs/HCPs
  • Collaborate with Global Clinical Operations and the Medical Lead Türkiye with respect to clinical trial execution
  • Regularly liaise with other medical and Cross-functional Launch teams to ensure consistency and alignment in strategy/tactics

Scientific Data Knowledge and Communication:

  • Collaborate with the Medical Lead Turkey to generate high quality approved medical and scientific presentations aligned to medical strategy
    Keep abreast of relevant medical literature.
  • Discuss, analyse and educate on appropriate medical/scientific publications and clinical study findings, in collaboration with Medical Lead
  • Provide scientific presentations to individual physicians or groups of physicians, e.g. scientific seminars, round table meetings and journal clubs etc.

Compliance:

  • Ensure speaker briefings, contracts and slide review processes adhere to all internal SOPs and external rules where appropriate
  • Maintain compliance within Biogen and local external frameworks and codes of conduct

    Qualifications

    Required Skills

    • University degree in Pharmacy, or Medicine, PhD Neuroscience considered
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the Pharma industry within a Medical Affairs role
    • Country experience in Turkiye is essential
    • Experience in the field of neurology, highly preferred
    • Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills
    • Strong communication skills (Turkish and English)  
    • Proven collaboration skills with internal cross-functional teams and external medical community, KME/HCPs
    • A hunger for scientific knowledge and scientific integrity  to maintain an exemplary level of scientific expertise allowing pertinent and up to date interactions, to answer the needs solicited by HCPs
    • Synthesise and articulate complex scientific data, reports, both to health professionals in the context of interactions, as well as to colleagues in the company, as part of their continuing education
    • Statistical & data interpretation, required for review and support of medical information
    • Appropriate skills and knowledge in Research, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, and Pharmaceutical Compliance
    • Autonomous in medical event organisation

    Preferred Skills:

    • Preferred understanding of drug development through clinical research
    • Preferred knowledge and understanding of local health care systems and regulations
    • International experience (local/regional) desired
