Job description

We are a team of doers, seasoned engineers, hackers and builders, working on the future of streaming data.

Funded by premier investors including GV and Lightspeed, Redpanda is building the streaming data platform for developers. We’re evolving streaming beyond the Apache Kafka® protocol into a unified “engine of record” that delivers a categorical reduction in complexity, wicked-fast performance, onboard Wasm transforms, and transparent tiered storage that gives consumers access to both real-time and historical data from a single API.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a passionate, technically skilled Developer Evangelist who thrives in a highly technical innovative environment through inspirational and educational content. You will be responsible for engaging developer audiences, building excitement around event and streaming data applications, and helping people realize the full potential of real-time data. You’ll create sample applications, write technical blogs, deliver virtual events and podcasts, and speak at conferences or meetups to educate and grow the Redpanda community.

If you love coding, love to teach, and are excited about building the next wave of data-intensive applications, we want to hear from you. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires close collaboration across marketing, sales, engineering, product management, and partners to identify topics for technical content.

You Will:

  • Develop a strategy with quarterly roadmaps for technical content and community development based on business priorities
  • Contribute hands-on to technical content development, content editing, ideation and speaking engagements where you will represent Redpanda
  • Develop relationships with counterparts in the community including partner advocates (and competitors), and influencers, and foster trust
  • Engage with product and engineering teams to provide feedback on Redpanda’s end-to-end developer experience
  • Assist the marketing team in designing developer outreach campaigns, and support marketing launches and demand generation various campaigns with appropriate community activities
  • Goal and measure the impact of your activities through data
  • Stay current with the data platforms market and identify new opportunities for showcasing Redpanda with emerging infrastructure and data stacks
  • Be a subject matter expert on topics not limited to streaming data, event processing, real-time applications, serverless systems and cloud-native development

You Have:

  • Passion for all things developer experience, social engagement, and fostering relationships in developer communities
  • Strong cross-team collaboration skills for internal and external engagement around streaming data technologies
  • Hands-on experience creating code-intensive content in various formats such as videos, live streams, podcasts, and blogs
  • Familiarity with Golang, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL, and Python
  • Public speaking experience and desire to present to small and large groups, meetups, and conferences
  • Demonstrated engagement on Twitter, Reddit, Bluesky, Dev.to, and other developer-centric channels
  • Creativity, curiosity, wit, humor, and a sense of collaboration in your creative process
  • Solid project management skills with a high bar for content quality and empathy for collaborating in remote teams
  • A framework for measuring performance via metrics and decisions based on data
  • Curiosity to experiment with new technologies and stay abreast of current developments
  • Experience building distributed data applications, including real-time and batch processing systems, experience with Kafka and the broader ecosystem
  • Proficiency in written English, with examples of work that demonstrates your ability to simplify complex concepts for developers

Please highlight if applicable to you:

  • Your best examples for developer content, talks, community strategies and goal planning
