Role Summary

The Research Department is largely responsible for ProVeg being a data-focused, science-driven organisation. As a service hub for all countries and departments, the Research team provides the organisation with important information and ensures the scientific quality of the materials targeted at various audiences. The department also works closely with the communications department to ensure timely and targeted dissemination of our research products to key audiences (food businesses, policymakers, civil society). 

As a Research Analyst (all genders) at ProVeg International, you will ensure that ProVeg works in a scientifically sound and informed manner. You will carry out scientific analyses, check content and monitor data on food systems and trends within food systems in Germany and globally. Your analyses will play a key role in supporting ProVeg's strategic work and in contributing sound scientific findings to the public debate.

Responsibilities
  • Reviewing and validating information: Reviewing and evaluation of relevant scientific publications, reports and data with a large focus on the German food system.
  • Monitoring of data: you will observe trends and developments in German and international food systems in order to identify relevant topics at an early stage. 
  • Data collection: you will collect relevant data (consumer data, market data and more) in a systematic way. 
  • Support FoodSystemData.org: creating and updating relevant data sheets and adding data.  
  • Support in the creation of reports and other content: You will work closely with other departments, such as the policy-, corporate-, and communication teams, to create evidence based content for reports, positions, campaigns and other publications.
  • Data preparation for different stakeholders: You prepare research results and data for various target groups, such as decision-makers in politics, business and civil society.
  • Relationships: Building relationships with academic institutions and scientists.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Masters degree in Environmental sciences, Agricultural sciences, Economics, Sustainability or a similar relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of working experience including demonstrated research experience (especially in the analysis and evaluation of data, and the application of different research methods).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex scientific issues in a concise and understandable way.
  • Interest and passion for the topics of sustainability, nutrition and environmental protection.
  • A strong working knowledge of food system transformation and its implications across societal sectors and relevant fields 
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
  • Ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new topics
Preferred:
  • Experience conducting consumer and/or market research
  • Experience working in an NGO context
