About the Client:

Evolve Consultancy is a boutique CFO advisory firm offering financial services to businesses in Australia. Reporting to the Director, this role will support a consultant in delivering accurate financial information and accounting work for the consulting firm. The role is responsible for managing the completion of tasks that form part of a scope for a financial services engagement.


Job Summary: 

The Senior Financial Accountant supports a boutique CFO advisory firm by delivering accurate financial reporting, managing compliance tasks, and driving process improvements. Reporting to the Director, responsibilities include maintaining financial systems (Xero), completing balance sheet reconciliations, overseeing GST and BAS compliance, and handling payroll and bookkeeping for the Director’s business.

The role also involves preparing commercial analyses, managing projects through Asana and Dropbox, and streamlining operational workflows. A strong focus on efficiency and high-quality service is essential for success in this position.


Responsibilities:

Accounting:
  • Complete financial adjustments for clients’ businesses directly in their system (Xero) and maintain workpapers.
  • Update and manage balance sheet reconciliation files for clients and make adjustments based on the Director’s review.
  • Reconcile GST and review BAS for clients before the external accountant’s lodgment.
  • Complete the accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll for the Director’s business (Evolve).
  • Streamline clients’ charts of accounts and perform adjusting entries to correct the trial balance.
Compliance:
  • Lodge Evolve BAS and advise on payment.
  • Prepare superannuation in Xero for authorization.
  • Prepare payroll tax workpapers and Revenue NSW lodgment for clients.
Commercial Analysis:
  • Complete commercial analysis as required, utilizing in-house templates where available.
  • Perform variance analysis for financials and provide explanations for client reporting.
Project Management:
  • Maintain the status of tasks and communicate progress through project management software (Asana).
  • Maintain folders and workpapers within Dropbox.
  • Take ownership of Asana workflows, automation, and accuracy in collaboration with the Director.
Administration:
  • Summarize notes from meetings and create tasks in Asana for the Director.
  • Manage the Director’s calendar and draft emails to clients.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Find ways to improve efficiency and streamline processes and procedures.
  • Create, maintain, and improve templates for reuse with clients.


Requirements
  • Must have Xero experience
  • 3+ years experience in accounting
  • 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with Australian businesses
  • Experience in completing month end
  • Must have an internet connection
  • Must have Fiber Optic internet with at least 25 Mbps bandwidth
  • Must have a backup desktop or laptop with the latest OS
  • Must be able to work on a shifting schedule
