Job Title: Robotics Hardware Engineer

Job Summary:
The Robotics Hardware Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining hardware components for robotic systems. This role focuses on integrating advanced sensors, actuators, and control systems into robotics platforms while ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. The engineer collaborates closely with software, electrical, and mechanical teams to deliver innovative solutions for robotic applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
    • Design and prototype mechanical and electrical hardware for robotics systems, including actuators, motors, and sensors.
    • Develop hardware architecture that integrates with software and firmware.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct rigorous testing of hardware components and systems to identify performance issues or defects.
    • Debug and resolve hardware failures in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Integration and Optimization:
    • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software.
    • Optimize power efficiency, speed, and precision of robotic systems.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Create technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and test reports.
    • Maintain records of design iterations and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure hardware systems meet industry safety standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in risk assessments and implement fail-safe mechanisms in robotics designs.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to achieve project goals.
    • Contribute to brainstorming sessions to drive innovation in robotics technology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in robotics hardware development or similar roles.
    • Hands-on experience with robotics hardware components, such as motors, sensors, and microcontrollers.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for mechanical design.
    • Experience with circuit design and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle).
    • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, C++, or MATLAB for hardware interfacing.
    • Knowledge of communication protocols like UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
    • Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar frameworks.
  • Background in machine vision, LIDAR, or autonomous navigation systems.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing or rapid prototyping methods.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes.
