Trusted by Fortune 500 companies and innovative startups alike, Twine is the go-to marketplace for mission-critical projects. With a network of over 500,000 freelancers and 35,000+ companies, we provide a comprehensive solution for businesses looking to build agile teams and for freelancers seeking opportunities to work on high-impact projects.

Our Mission
At Twine, our mission is to empower creators, whether they're businesses or individual freelancers, to grow and thrive. As automation and AI reshape the workforce, we’re driving the shift towards remote, freelance-driven work. We connect companies with top creative talent, enabling collaboration, innovation, and success on a global scale.

About the Role
We are seeking a talented and imaginative Book Illustrator to bring the magical world of The Curious Compass of Cedarwood Grove to life. This is a 32-page illustrated children’s book about Milo, a curious 7-year-old boy, who embarks on heartwarming adventures with the help of a magical compass. The story blends whimsical charm with important life lessons about kindness, courage, and self-discovery. As the illustrator, you’ll play a crucial role in capturing the book’s vibrant, nature-inspired settings and enchanting characters, creating artwork that resonates with children and parents alike.

Your illustrations will feature lush, textured environments, expressive animal companions, and Milo’s adventures in a forest that evolves from sunny mornings to serene, starry nights. The project offers opportunities to design full-page illustrations, spreads, and an engaging book cover that complements the story’s whimsical and magical tone. Collaboration with the author is essential to align on artistic direction and ensure the visuals enhance the storytelling.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in illustrating children’s books or similar projects, with a strong portfolio showcasing whimsical, textured, and expressive artwork.
  • Ability to design vibrant natural environments, forest landscapes, and dynamic animal and human characters.
  • Experience in integrating text into illustrations and designing full-page spreads for children’s books.
  • Familiarity with creating print-ready files, including file specifications such as 300 DPI resolution, CMYK color mode, and bleed areas.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, with deliverables in layered editable files (PSD or AI) and print-ready PDF format.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to align with the author’s vision and meet project deadlines.
  • Availability to begin work by February 1, 2025
