Job description

About Darkroom

We're building the future of advertising and are looking for the minds to help us do it.

Darkroom is a progressive omnichannel growth marketing agency focused on retail, e-commerce, and consumer businesses. We have been recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in America by Inc. 5000 (2023), a top 1% digital advertiser by Varos (2023), and our founders were named Forbes 30 Under 30 recipients for Marketing and Advertising North America (2024).

We are seeking an SEO Specialist who brings deep expertise in organic search strategies, from technical optimizations to content development and link-building. The ideal candidate is data-driven, proactive in researching new tactics, and thrives on cross-functional collaboration. If you love problem-solving, are passionate about boosting online visibility, and want to shape the future of search marketing, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a fully remote role supporting a team primarily in the EST time zone and is open to candidates worldwide.

What You’ll Do

Strategy & Analysis

• Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies aligned with client business objectives.

• Conduct keyword research, site audits, and competitor analyses to identify growth opportunities.

• Continually analyze and report on SEO performance metrics to provide actionable insights.

On-Page Optimization

• Optimize website content, meta tags, and internal linking structures to improve visibility.

• Collaborate with content teams to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into new and existing content.

• Monitor rankings and organic traffic and adjust tactics as needed.

Off-Page & Link Building

• Build and maintain effective link-building campaigns to enhance domain authority.

• Identify high-value external partnership opportunities, guest posting spots, and relevant industry directories.

• Monitor and manage backlink profiles to maintain a strong online reputation.

Technical SEO

• Perform technical audits to identify crawl issues, indexation bottlenecks, or site performance concerns.

• Work with development teams to recommend and implement SEO-friendly site structures and code enhancements.

• Stay updated on algorithm changes and advancements in SEO technology tools.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with cross-functional teams (Content, Design, Development) to deliver integrated marketing campaigns.

• Present complex SEO insights to clients and stakeholders in clear, accessible language.

• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, sharing SEO best practices and updates.

What You’ll Need

Experience

• 2–3 years of experience managing SEO strategies for e-commerce, consumer, or digital-first brands.

• Proven track record in driving organic traffic growth, keyword ranking improvements, and ROI-focused SEO campaigns.

• Familiarity with SEO and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz.

Skills

• Deep understanding of on-page SEO, link-building, and technical SEO best practices.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with an ability to present complex ideas clearly.

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript is a plus.

• Adaptability to stay ahead of ever-changing search engine algorithms.
