Forbes Vetted is seeking a Temporary Commerce Editor to join our team from February 2025 to August 2025. The role will be responsible for writing and editing Forbes Vetted content across several lifestyle verticals, including but not limited to: Home & Kitchen, Mattress & Sleep, Beauty & Grooming, Fashion, Travel and Gifts. Story types may include product guides, roundups, retailer news, tested product reviews, product/brand comparison posts, how-tos and product odes. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in at least two of the coverage areas listed above, and has 5 or more years of direct prior experience writing and editing content on consumer products. The Temporary Commerce Editor will collaborate with our updates and strategy editors to optimize evergreen content, and our deals and special projects teams as needed. This role reports to the Forbes Vetted Managing Editor.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing and editing articles within several lifestyle verticals, including Home & Kitchen (e.g., furniture and décor, large and small appliances, lawn and garden care, pets, cleaning and organizing, and home improvement) and Mattress & Sleep, as well as Beauty, Fashion, Travel, Gifts and more
  • Frequent collaboration across teams, including with strategy, data, audience development, partnerships and product, as well as more senior and junior editors
  • Occasionally assigning articles to other Forbes Vetted staff and managing their workflow
  • Adhering to the daily and weekly content schedule outlined by your section leads, publishing articles in a timely and accurate manner
  • Attending and participating in virtual team meetings and contributing to Forbes Vetted’s positive, friendly culture
  • Contributing to coverage during a limited number of “tentpole” sales events, which could include shifts outside normal business hours and on holiday weekends; examples include Memorial Day, Labor Day and Amazon Prime Day
  • Potentially contributing to Forbes Vetted’s social media and other off-platform channels, as the editing schedule allows

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 5+ years of experience writing and editing across lifestyle verticals, with deep expertise in the Home & Kitchen category and additional familiarity in areas such as Sleep, Beauty, Fashion and other lifestyle categories
  • Has a strong understanding of SEO as well as affiliate/commerce content strategy
  • Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills
  • Has direct prior experience in the commerce space producing product/commerce reviews, tested or otherwise
  • Is exceptionally reliable and punctual, and able to meet our daily and weekly publishing quota
  • Maintains a network of PR contacts across lifestyle verticals
  • Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business
  • Is eager to innovate and experiment editorially to help grow the Forbes Vetted audience
  • Has experience with Monday or other planning and collaboration tools
  • Is familiar with and adept at navigating internal content management systems (CMS) and online publishing platforms

The hourly rate for this role is $50.00 - $80.00
