How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:


The Clinical Informatics based Business Analyst has organization-wide responsibility for workflow processes impacted by Clinical Technology across disciplines/clinical departments. Will lead / participate in implementing large clinical process change initiatives across the clinical setting in ambulatory, outpatient, therapeutic, diagnostic and inpatient departments.  Responsible for performing advanced application system analysis and design to include requirements, specifications, configuration, documentation, testing, and implementation of system. Will also be involved in providing application support, troubleshooting, support training needs and reporting/analytics activities. Serves as a primary liaison/resource about clinical workflows and technology between TSG groups, Education, clients and vendors.


Remote position. Health Analytics Embedded BI team. Candidates residing in the following states can be considered for remote work: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia.
 

  • Participates and collaborates with the project manager on clinical technology project teams to document and analyze current state workflows including policies/procedures impacted.    
  • Collaborates with clinical stakeholders and TSG analysts to develop transformative workflows that will have an impact on patient care as well as the overall patient experience.
  • Works with clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities to optimize workflows through the use of technology to support strong evidence based clinical practice.  Collaborates with TSG analyst to develop a detailed plan to deliver the needed solution after approval and project scope are defined and scheduled with resources.  The CIS will also review enhancement/optimization requests to assess the impact on workflow at all Carilion sites and ensure it aligns with the overall organizational strategy and goals where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the HR Education team to ensure educational content reflects agreed up workflows as well as technology functional training requirements for all projects or optimization requests.  
  • Participate on assigned Carilion Clinic committees as an active member in order to identify and provide support to clinical end users with optimization requests and reporting/analytics needs.
  • Maintains an advanced and comprehensive knowledge of assigned clinical  area, demonstrated by an understanding and use of the general principals, theories, and practices pertinent to the work specialty Applies an understanding of lean and quality improvement (DMAIC) principles to workflow assessments including the integration of data into the overall plan.
  • Coordinates, plans, and conducts analysis of client business needs and identifies opportunities for maximizing application benefits. Serves as a member of multiple project teams. May serve in a lead role within a complex project or sub-project.
  • Works closely with both internal and external clients to build and maintain effective working relationships. Understands client needs and provides appropriate guidance and support? Demonstrates courteous, prompt, and professional approach in dealing with clients and co-workers. Supplies prompt resolution to customer issues
  • Demonstrate knowledge of clinical workflows and their impact to revenue by advocating for best practice workflows that reflect positively on the bottom line.
What We Require:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, health care business  or eight (8) years equivalent experience required.  Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum:  6+ years of relevant experience required. Minimum:  3-5 years working with enterprise data sources and BI tools.

Preferred:  Healthcare Information Technology and Industry knowledge. Epic Certifications. Experience managing technical service delivery relationships.  Experience translating business needs into designs and specifications including detailed workflow process in the overall process redesign initiative.  Experience leading/ coordinating  small scale projects, testing and quality control.  Experience supporting application users and they interact with EMR while providing care. Experience Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Office, Project, Visio, SharePoint.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Maintain application vendor certifications as needed. Valid VA driver’s license. Preferred certifications:  ITIL V3, CBAP, CBIP, CDMP, DGSP, PMP.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong listening skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating proper business use of grammar and punctuation. Strong presentation skills clearly conveying information, ideas, concepts, and instructions to a variety of audiences. Meeting management skills including agendas, facilitation, minutes and time management. Negotiation skills to resolve conflict and build cooperation.
