Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in advanced technological and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (.Net/C#) to join our OpsCore squad within our Connected Aviation Solutions unit. You will work as tech lead in a small group of engineers (5) to deliver complex new features and resolve bugs in a fully agile environment. Our software products support commercial airlines across the world. The right candidate will have direct commercial experience on both front end and back-end development of web products.
At Collins we are building and supporting large scale systems in the cloud using a wide span of cutting-edge technologies to deliver scalable systems for our clients. You should be a creative, Senior Software Engineer who has developed scalable systems using Microservice patterns. Coding will predominantly be in C# with a bit of Angular (about 20% on the front end) and you will bring our systems to life for our customers. You will play a key role in a high velocity team that manage their own sprints. You should have a passion to work on both front end and back-end solutions being a true software engineer that loves to code regardless of the area within the full-stack spectrum. In this role, you will also guide and mentor junior team members; helping them reach the next step in their career at Collins.

What You Will Do:
Lead the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance software solutions using C# and .NET technologies microservices in docker containers on Kubernetes to deliver web APIs and services to consume and present large amounts of data from disparate sources.
Develop and maintain web applications, APIs, microservices, and backend systems.
Coding JavaScript, Angular (13+), CSS and HTML to deliver web based front ends.
Implement unit tests, integration tests, and ensure high code quality through proper code reviews.
Use advanced debugging tools and techniques to identify root causes of issues in production and development environments.
Collaborate with clients or stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
Present your software design to your peers for a design review.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Create and maintain clear, concise technical documentation for code, APIs, system architecture, and deployment processes.
Responsible for backlog refinements, sprint reviews, sprint planning as a member of the team.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
Experience as a technical lead responsible for architectural decision making and product delivery.
Experience as a Software Engineer with microservice design and interaction using full stack languages and technologies such as C# & Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar.
Experience with cloud technologies and platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kubernetes or similar.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with large-scale SaaS system design, data management, and microservice integration.
Knowledge of cloud native tools like Terraform, or similar.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and secure software design.
Experience with large scale messaging platform like Kafka, RabbitMq
An agile mindset with a focus on learning, rapid iteration, and an openness to new approaches.
Prior aviation related experience preferred- Airline operations, flight plan systems, and/or aviation weather.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
