Position Summary:

The Industrial Engineering Specialist TCA (Taco Canada) prepares Bills of Operations (BOO) for manufactured parts, including the calculations required to determine operation times and ensuring costing of labor and overheads are accurate. They set up BOO in the Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and ensure material and labor are being reported and backflushed accurately. The Industrial Engineering Specialist serves as the subject matter expert on Epicor functionality and features in this area. They also perform time studies on manufacturing operations, write manufacturing process instructions, and develop labor time estimates for product development projects.

Measures of Success:

  • Meets deadlines related to projects assigned pertaining to the observations and documentation of manufacturing process
  • Effectively presents recommendations from results of time studies to finance and operations managers supporting company-wide initiative to more accurately state standard costs.
  • Identifies areas of improvements in the manufacturing process and communicates to operations as well as finance to reduce operating costs.
  • Collaborate with buyer/planners on BOMs and Methods so orders get processed in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepares BOO for manufactured parts, delineating the manufacturing process.
  • Determines location, methods, and operations required to manufacture parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies through examination of part drawings and Bills of Material (BOM) in Epicor system and through communications with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Calculates operational times for run hours, machine hours and set-up hours through the use of either time study data or pre-determined labor standards.
  • Works in conjunction with Operations to establish Resource and Resource Groups within Epicor ERP.
  • Performs time studies on manufacturing operations and processes for new parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Writes detailed manufacturing process instruction sheets detailing step-by-step manufacturing process at each production work center.
  • Supports on-going maintenance of Smart String Method Generator (SSMG) and Part Maintenance fields in Epicor. Frequently requesting Data Migration Tool (DMT) fixes to clean-up mass issues.
  • Scrubs BOM/BOO to ensure methods are accurate before being released
  • Investigates issues from production pertaining to BOO/BOM errors and fixes job and future methods.
  • Requests JIRA tickets for booster submittal drawings or other fabrication drawings.
  • Monitors and clears price verification requests (PVRs) by setting up parts in Epicor with correct attributes and pricing.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • College diploma in Engineering
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) and ERP systems (key knowledge of Bills of Materials and Routings)
  • Proven ability to interpret/understand labor, machine set-ups, direct and indirect data.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as track and drive initiatives with limited supervision.
  • Travel: none required

Work Environment:

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology as well as on the production floor documenting workflow process.  Verbal and auditory capability are required.  Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.  However, there are instances where employee can work from home as needed.

Management:

This position has no direct reports.

 

Full Compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.

$29.97$38.96 CAD
