Job description

At Spotify, we are redefining the audiobook industry with our innovative Audiobooks in Premium model. We are enthusiastic about encouraging a growing ecosystem that empowers both creators and consumers of audiobooks. Our mission is to grow this dynamic business, enabling the best possible content to reach the market with the highest quality and accessibility.

This team is critical to achieving this mission, comprising cross-disciplinary members dedicated to ensuring that publisher-ingested audiobook metadata flows seamlessly through our pipeline, reaching Spotify and other distribution partners with speed, quality, visibility, and flexibility. As a member of this team, your pursuit of continuous improvement will have a lasting impact on Spotify and creators for years to come.

You will work with a diverse and collaborative team to build features, tools, and a scalable architecture that empowers the creator and consumer segment for Spotify, as well as growth for the Audiobooks business. We value your practical experience in software development, particularly agile engineering methods and a deep understanding of good software practices.

As with many new products, your responsibilities will vary frequently. You'll be wearing multiple hats, working across different technologies, product domains, and teams. We seek someone passionate about thriving in this type of dynamic environment!

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, product managers, and designers to solve exciting and high-reaching problems, delivering value to creators and listeners
  • Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with challenging problems to tackle and the freedom to acquire new skills in hack time, guilds, lectures and a variety of internal training courses
  • Deliver testable, maintainable and high-quality code and take operational responsibility for the components that you develop
  • Author and collaborate on technical RFCs to document approaches
  • Share your knowledge, promote best practices, and collaborate with some of the best web engineers in the company

  • Who You Are
  • You have professional experience working with modern web technologies such as Javascript, React, TypeScript, Python, AWS, Docker, and Next.js
  • You are passionate about delivering end-to-end experiences and care about software architecture across the frontend, backend, and the APIs that glue them together
  • You are proficient in backend development (preferably Java) and handling system uptime and reliability
  • You have excellent communication and collaboration skills and go above and beyond to ensure alignment across subject areas
  • You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high-quality code
  • You value having fun, staying positive, and learning new things, and enjoy working closely together with your product team to bring value to your customers

  • Where You'll Be
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the UK, Sweden, or potentially one of our other locations in the EMEA region as long as we have a work location.
  • This team operates within the CET time zone for collaboration.
