The Role

You Will Be Responsible For

The Afrikaans Music Transcriber is responsible for accurately converting audio recordings of Afrikaans music into sheet music or text format.

This role involves deeply understanding Afrikaans language, music theory, and transcription software to ensure high-quality and precise outputs.

Lyrics

  • Transcribe lyrics for high-priority content
  • Verify lyric accuracy on content sourced from partners, ensuring it meets the provided
  • standards
  • Maintain time-sync coverage for the top 80% of plays

Music Curation

  • Polish top albums in the local market each week
  • Polish albums/tracks featured in campaigns
  • Maintain polishing coverage for the top 80% of plays
  • Make edits to the metadata when needed

Artist Curation

  • Curate top artists in the local market each week
  • Polish artist pages featured in campaigns
  • Make edits to the metadata when needed

Ideal Profile

  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and passionate about preserving and documenting Afrikaans music.
  • You pay strong attention to detail and deliver work that is of a high standard

Education

  • A diploma or degree in Music, Ethnomusicology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 3 years+ Proven experience in transcribing music, preferably in Afrikaans.
  • Familiarity with diverse genres of Afrikaans music is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore).
  • Understanding of music theory, including tempo, dynamics, and chord structures.
  • Advanced listening skills for isolating instruments and vocal parts.
  • Language Skills:
  • Fluency in Afrikaans, with excellent comprehension of spoken and sung words.
  • Proficiency in English for internal communication.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional focus and accuracy.
  • Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setup.
