Role Summary

In the position of Project Development Manager / Project Developer, you will oversee initiatives within the Greater Toronto area, managing the entire life-cycle of solar, wind, and battery storage projects. This includes guiding projects from the Notice to Proceed (NTP) phase and negotiating key agreements with landowners, local governments, and utilities. A background in land permitting will be considered a significant asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and pursue land opportunities for utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage initiatives through collaborative engagement.
• Oversee all aspects of site acquisition, financing, and development, including the initiation and response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
• Lead negotiations with landowners to secure site control agreements.
• Manage development activities for both new and ongoing projects, emphasizing tax abatement, permitting, and environmental compliance.
  
  

Required Skills

• 4-5+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, battery storage, LNG, or natural gas, particularly with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) or Developers.
• Proven track record in team and commercial management within renewable energy project development.
• Practical knowledge of real estate transactions and contracts specific to renewables, natural gas, or energy storage.
• Strong familiarity with the RFP/RFI processes as they pertain to project development.
• Expertise in project siting, permitting, prospecting, and due diligence for utility-scale renewable projects (solar, wind, battery storage).
• Experience in land negotiations and support for project financing efforts.
• Background in energy storage, battery storage, or solar + storage initiatives is highly regarded.
• Excellent communication skills to foster effective collaboration.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
