Position: Renewables Project Developer / Development Associate

Location: Remote (Canada)

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and secure land opportunities for utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects through cooperative engagement with landowners.
  • Oversee initiatives related to site acquisition, financing, and the development of utility-scale energy storage and renewable energy projects, including the initiation and management of RFPs.
  • Negotiate site control agreements with landowners for utility-scale renewable and energy storage projects.
  • Assist in the development activities for both new and ongoing utility-scale renewable and energy storage projects, focusing on tax abatement, permitting, and environmental compliance.

Required Skills

  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, battery storage, LNG, and/or natural gas sectors, collaborating with IPPs, developers, or owners.
  • Demonstrated expertise in real estate transactions and contracts for projects in the renewable energy or energy storage fields.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the RFP/RFI processes in relation to project development initiatives.
  • Proficient in project siting, permitting, and conducting due diligence for utility-scale renewable (solar, wind, battery storage) projects.
  • Practical experience with land negotiations and project financing initiatives.
  • Exposure to energy storage, battery storage, or solar + storage projects is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
