What You’ll Be Doing

The Sr. Director, Medical Capabilities & Content Lead will be responsible for home office and field medical content creation in addition to building processes, systems, and operational efficiencies in support of an industry leading Medical Affairs team with particular focus on launch preparation, readiness, and execution for Nuvation Bio’s oncology products. They will also assist in the cross-functional coordination of thought leader engagement strategy and planning at medical congresses.

You will be responsible for…

  • Strategic content creation inclusive of ushering through MLR process
  • Lead development of strategic home office and field medical dashboards for cross functional information flow
  • Manage the collection, synthesis, and reporting of insights by creating quarterly dashboards in collaboration with the ED, Head of Field Medical
  • Build dashboards informing internal stakeholders of the status of key initiatives across functions
  • Develop, launch, and maintain capabilities, processes, and systems for the medical affairs team; conduct ongoing assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement to achieve operational efficiencies
  • Lead onboarding for Medical Affairs new team members
  • Leverage data & analytics to optimize field medical target lists in collaboration with Regional Medical Directors
  • Serve as the lead for field medical documentation and regular reporting, as well as any associated CRM troubleshooting
  • Assist in developing, prioritizing and managing operational aspects of key field medical activities and strategic initiatives, inclusive of data gathering a and reporting
  • Develop field medical infrastructure (team logistics/operational activity coordination, processes, territory management tools, thought leader lists, thought leader engagement plans, etc.) across all field medical teams
  • Serve as point of contact for commercial operational and IT systems leads; partner with commercial function to coordinate field operational activities as relevant
  • Negotiate contracts with third party vendors to ensure quality services, inclusive of vendors and HCP contracts as needed
  • Identify and lead new processes, IT or other technology implementations
  • Manage the process for local/regional conferences identified for sponsorship opportunities by the field medical team
  • Stay current/develop expertise in disease state, asset knowledge
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, identify & execute training for new hires & ongoing training needs for the Medical Affairs team
  • Serve as global fair market value medical representative, in collaboration with compliance and other cross-functional partners across the company
  • Oversee cross-franchise alignment, synergies and efficiencies, as well as performance and issue resolution
  • Assist in advisory board and symposium logistics as needed
  • Work closely with the medical communications team to manage the development of content for internal and external use by the medical team
  • Facilitate status calls, communication best practices, performance surveys/discussions, etc.

What Knowledge & Experience You'll Bring To Us...

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in a medical or science-related specialty, although significant experience in the medical field may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • 5+ years in biotech and/or pharma in medical roles of increasing responsibility; working with or on field teams strongly preferred
  • Oncology and field medical affairs experience highly desirable
  • Breadth of diverse leadership or matrix team experiences and capabilities within medical affairs
  • Experience in managing external agencies and vendors and managing budgets
  • Drive and enthusiasm for operational improvements and proven innovation-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage resources, programs and multiple projects
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex analyses
  • Team oriented and ability to work collaboratively towards common objectives
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of accountability and ability to execute
  • Must be decisive, exercise good judgment in decisions, organized and with the ability to prioritize a large workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and sense of urgency
  • Launch experience highly desired, but not mandatory
  • Strong problem-solving ability through insightful solutions which address complex issues
  • Ability to travel to Nuvation Bio Headquarters and professional congresses as appropriate (~20%).

The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
