Your tasks
ISCC – International Sustainability and Carbon Certification is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability, traceability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our activities and impact are expanding and our teams are growing exponentially since the last 2 years. This is why the IT & Technology team of experts are looking forward to welcome you as IT System Administrator - DevOps Engineer at the ISCC headquarters in Cologne.

The IT System Administrator - DevOps Engineer has the objective to complement the role of our current IT system administrator which is to grant continous coverage of common duties and additional skills in DevOps topics. If you are passionate about sustainability and would like to join our highly motivated and diverse teams to make a difference, we are looking forward to your application!
 
 Your main duties will be:

System Administration:
  • Manage and maintain Linux-based servers and applications.
  • Provide backup support for Windows-based system administration tasks, including Active Directory, Windows Servers, and user management.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability.
  • Ensure system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are in place and regularly tested.
  • Maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.
DevOps:
  • Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and containerized environments.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines to enable streamlined software development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with software developers, backend engineers, and product teams to align infrastructure with application needs.
Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure infrastructure and processes adhere to ISO 27001 standards and best practices.
  • Implement security measures such as system hardening, access control, and vulnerability management.
  • Work closely with the Information Security Manager to address compliance requirements.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Act as a technical bridge between Linux and Windows environments, fostering cross-platform expertise.
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members on Linux systems, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams as required.

Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in system administration and/or DevOps roles.
  • Strong expertise in Linux system administration (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat).
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization (e.g., Docker).
  • Familiarity with Windows Server administration and Active Directory.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Experience in hybrid environments (Linux and Windows).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of ISO 27001 compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
  • Excellent English skills (at least C1), and good German skills (at least B2)
