Job description

Job Summary:

As a Delivery Owner, you are a key leader to an engineering team responsible for the development and support of SaaS technology products. You are responsible for managing and coordinating the successful delivery of engineering projects from initiation to completion while driving a positive environment and customer-centric approach. You will facilitate communication and collaboration between team members, product owners, and other stakeholders, ensuring that the team delivers high-quality products within specified timelines. You will coordinate and manage the release process to ensure that new features, enhancements, or bug fixes are delivered in a smooth and timely manner. You will coach team members on Agile principles, guiding the team through Scrum events and removing any obstacles that may impede process. You will act as a servant leader, helping to create an environment of continuous improvement while fostering collaboration and communication within the team and across stakeholders.

You may be ideal if you have:

  • 7+ years experience in a similar role
  • BA/BS in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or 3+ professional experience in an enterprise-class setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to clearly articulate complex problems and solutions
  • Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle and release processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong experience defining requirements for software initiatives, covering UI, API, and database considerations
  • Strong experience working with and leading Agile teams
  • Strong experience implementing Agile principles and methodologies
  • Strong experience and proficiency with ALL parts of defining, designing, and implementing scalable, enterprise-class software solutions
  • Strong experience in release management or a related role.
  • Experience creating/managing monitoring and reporting tools
  • Strong experience with PowerPoint and leading presentations
  • Strong experience in a Scrum, SAFe, or similar Agile Framework
  • Experience using Atlassian (e.g., Jira, Confluence, etc) or similar tools
  • Positive, self-motivated, driven, and teachable attitude
  • High standard of personal integrity and accountability
  • Passion and aptitude for solving complex problems
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Scrum Events:

Organize and facilitate key agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Ensure that all team members actively participate in these events and understand their purpose. Lead and actively participate in additional team events such as Scrum of Scrum, sprint health checks, issue triage sessions, release retrospectives, etc.

  • Team Support:

Manage and monitor the delivery team’s backlog, work prioritization, and assignment. Guide and coach the team in adopting and maintaining Engineering and scaled agile best practices. Help the team become self-organizing and cross-functional. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Remove Impediments:

Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder the team's progress. Collaborate with other Delivery Owners, Product Owners and other stakeholders to address broader organizational impediments

  • Initiative/Release Planning and Coordination:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, product management and operations to plan and schedule initiatives and releases. Develop initiative/release plans, timelines, and milestones, accounting for resource availability and dependencies. Drive scope estimation and initiative/release approval process. Own and maintain Engineering capacity and planned initiative forecasts

  • Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and issues related to the completion of sprint commitments and delivery of releases, and work with Engineering teams and stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies. Proactively communicate risks and provide recommendations for risk reduction.

  • Quality Assurance:

Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that testing processes align with release timelines and goals. Verify that releases meet established quality standards before deployment.

  • Sprint and Release Execution:

Oversee the execution of sprint commitments, ensuring successful completion of deliverables and driving trade off negotiations when needed. Oversee the execution of the release plan, ensuring that all tasks are completed on schedule and meet quality standards. Coordinate activities during release windows, including deployment and rollback plans.

  • Metrics and Reporting:

Track and report key agile metrics, such as velocity and burn-down charts.

Provide visibility into the team's sprint commitments, progress and performance. Communicate regular updates regarding initiative timelines, progress, risks and release strategy. Ensure all data used for planning and reporting is complete and accurate.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

Foster open communication within the team and with external stakeholders. Facilitate collaboration between team members, product owners, and other project stakeholders. Facilitate communication among different teams to ensure everyone is informed about release status, issues, and changes. Facilitate communication and collaboration among Engineering teams to ensure alignment on technical solutions and successful coordination of dependencies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of processes and procedures.

  • Training and Mentoring:

Provide training on team principles and practices. Mentor team members and stakeholders on agile methodologies. Mentor associate Delivery Owners in team process and standards

  • Continuous Improvement:

Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Encourage the team to reflect on their processes and performance and implement improvements. Implement release management best practices and streamline processes to enhance efficiency and reduce the risk of errors.

  • Delivery Team Oversight:

Drive prioritization and decisions toward outcomes within the team. Responsible for the hiring and coaching of team members. Responsible for performance evaluation and continuing growth of team members. Responsible for regular touchpoints with team members, geared to personal and professional growth opportunities, including path to promotion and checkpoints on the journey
