Power Utility Make Ready Designer – REMOTE Description
Our client in the electric utility industry is looking for a detail-oriented Power Utility Make Ready Designer to add to their team. This position offers the flexibility to work 100% remotely within the United States. In this role, you will apply your knowledge and experience to generate solutions and designs for ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies. Designers perform tasks related to end-to-end design, make-ready design, joint-use design, pole replacements, and permitting. The ideal candidate has a strong technical knowledge of overhead distribution in the power utility industry and has experience with Make Ready Engineering (MRE). To be successful, you must be tech-savvy, an excellent problem solver, and able to work independently on complex tasks. Power Utility Make Ready Designer – REMOTE Responsibilities
• Support multiple Make Ready Engineering design projects for your assigned client
• Complete drafting and design work to build, maintain, and improve power networks
• Perform 2-D civil drafting and occasional 3-D design work
• Provide solutions when the expected outcomes do not align with project requirements
• Execute work orders for infrastructure solutions and designs
• Complete projects with a focus on budget, quality, and timelines
• Research right of way, property rights, pole ownership, and permit requirements
• Learn customer-based software, as needed, to facilitate project work
• Review and interpret general designs, engineering schematics, data, and notes
• Apply established design guidelines, processes, and procedures to client projects
• Assist in the preparation of bid documentation
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Field Techs, Drafters, & Designers
Power Utility Make Ready Designer – REMOTE Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in the electric/power industry with overhead distribution is required
• Experience with Make Ready Engineering (MRE) is required
• CAD design experience is required
• Understanding of pole loading calculations is required
• Ability to travel to the corporate office for two weeks of onboarding training is required
• Ability to work overtime (paid 1.5X) as needed is required
