Job description

Title: Legislative & External Affairs Specialist

Location: Remote, TX preferred

Pay: 20-33/hr

Length: Contract through 3/31, possibility of contract to hire

Work Authorization: W2 only, no sponsorship available

DUTIES

  • Composes, verifies, edits, and distributes highly optimized print and digital communications that support stakeholder engagement, including informational materials, press releases, speeches, presentations, articles, bulletins, newsletters, brochures, graphic and photographic illustrations, web content, etc.
  • Supports the execution of crisis communication plans and assists with crisis-related communications
  • Helps to tracks federal, state, and local legislation affecting the insurance industry and develop position statements and testimonies on legislative bills and amendments
  • Maintains up-to-date information on legislative, regulatory, and other government officials
  • Performs ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
  • 3+ years of public relations or communications experience
  • Advanced computer skills including high level knowledge and ability with the Internet and web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Journalistic principles - planning, composing, and editing informational materials
  • Public relations techniques and procedures
  • Marketing and advertising practices and techniques

  • Experience with database software, content management systems, record keeping, project management applications
