The
Federal Civilian business unit supports a wide range of customers that span the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Library of Congress, and the Social Security Administration. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor within a team, with the expectation that you will further develop your leadership, guidance and mentoring skills. With minimal oversight from leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. A Senior Designer impacts the long-term goals of the program, while contributing to the development of the program’s design strategy. You may serve as the discipline’s primary lead when working with stakeholders and utilize strong influential skills to drive improvements in design processes and practices. Primary expectations of a Senior Designer include:
- Strong influential skills to build relationships with team members, government and company stakeholders, and program management
- May lead cross functional efforts for delivery team members and team leads
- Navigates ambiguous requirements and environments to support delivery
- Leads the delivery of design work such as design initiative briefs, discovery artifacts, sketches, wireframes, UX flows, low and high fidelity prototypes, heuristic evaluations, competitive analysis, and design system contributions
- Comprehensive understanding of scope requirements to prioritize design activities
- Responsible for working with users to support the development of effective designs
- Experienced with design skill principles, with the ability to provide recommendations associated with typography and hierarchy
- Delivers design work including discovery artifacts, sketches and rough prototypes, wireframes, UX flows, and high fidelity prototypes
- Demonstrates the ability to coach designers; with a focus on providing actionable feedback that helps individuals grow in objective ways
- Manages the development of competitive analysis, and reports results to stakeholders
- Contributes to the design libraries and provides visual design and brand artifacts
- Facilitates discussions with multi-disciplined teams to drive productive discussions and articulate goals in order to deliver upon requirements
- Experienced with storytelling to deliver compelling artifacts and presentations that distill highly complex issues into focused, understandable solutions
- Leads human centered design processes and deliverables in compliance with standards and regulations
- May lead accessibility tasks inclusive of 508 compliance and have knowledge of other emerging accessibility standards
- Ability to identify risks and communicate to leadership; provides recommendations to mitigate identified risks
- Participates in grading candidate homeworks and participating in panel interviews
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years’ experience designing complex service design systems for multiple touchpoint projects
- Bachelor’s degree in service design, business design, or a related design discipline
- 5+ years of experience in service design, user experience design, related fields
- 7+ years of combined professional service design, CX, and/or UX experience
- Strong working knowledge of the IAE user base of SAM.gov domains and FPDS.gov as applicable to the task order scope
- Ability to connect IAE user desires to SAM regulatory and functional requirements to design solutions
- Strong understanding of current quantitative and qualitative user analysis techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to use web analytics to understand user flows, behaviors, and burdens
- Ability to suggest metrics and perform analysis on user data to optimize digital experiences for customers
- Ability to draft user flows from start to finish with technical input
- Ability to create and evaluate low-fidelity versions of their ideas before implementing them
- Ability to bring relevant people together to help them understand the user's goal and establish a common goal
- Ability to plan and execute system mapping, customer journeys, scenarios, and service specifications
- Analyze research data, identifying and generating meaningful insights and behavioral patterns
- Work closely with visual designers contributing to the improvement of the design quality and final user experience
- Collaborate with design lead, product owners, and leaders to drive product strategy and the development roadmap
- Strong knowledge of user-centered design processes and passionate about solving complex Service and UX challenges
- Strong background in service and strategic design
- Strong skills in conducting and synthesizing research, insights, and findings
- Strong skills in structuring and visualizing journey maps, service ideation, concept communication, and specification. Skills in visual and interaction design as well.
- Prior portfolio showcasing design solutions and strategic approaches
- Ability to facilitate workshops and set design sprints Knowledge of agile approaches and techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively and explain your ideas to client stakeholders to ideate the best means to present your conceptual work
- Attention to details and organizational approach
- Ability to understand the impact of technology on design deliverables
- Experience with design software such as Figma, Miro, Adobe or other designer tools

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
