About Cro Metrics

At Cro Metrics, we’re passionate about helping our clients grow through data-driven experimentation. We believe the best insights and results happen where creativity, strategy, and measurement converge. As we continue to evolve our practice and expand our impact, we seek a Director of Design to spearhead our creative practice, drive innovation, and build a high-performing team.

Role Overview

As our Director of Design, you will lead and grow a small but mighty design team, owning the creative vision and ensuring our work reflects Cro Metrics’ focus on experimentation and measurable outcomes. You will foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, translating client objectives into engaging, high-performing digital experiences. You will also operationalize design processes, champion data-driven thinking, nurture strong client relationships, and actively contribute to our marketing and business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design Vision & Leadership
  • Establish and communicate a compelling design vision that aligns with our business goals, client success metrics, and focus on experimentation.
  • Inspire and guide the design team working with our strategists to explore creative solutions that balance innovation with measurable ROI.
  • Serve as the champion for design across the organization, elevating its role in delivering outstanding client outcomes.
  • Results-Obsessed
    • Lead design projects that drive improved conversion rates, customer engagement, and overall ROI for our clients.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Strategy, Program Management, Engineering) to understand client objectives and develop impactful, user-centered designs that move the needle.
    • Consistently articulate the ‘why’ behind design decisions, demonstrating how great design connects with consumers and drives meaningful action.
  • Works Well With Others
    • Cultivate strong relationships with client teams and internal stakeholders, championing a culture of open communication and teamwork.
    • Guide designers and cross-functional partners to solve complex problems collaboratively, prioritizing the best solution over personal preference.
    • Provide clear and constructive feedback, encouraging continuous improvement while leaving ego at the door.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Develop and refine scalable processes to deliver high-quality creative work efficiently and effectively.
    • Implement and socialize design standards that maintain consistency across projects and teams.
    • Ensure the design team adapts quickly to changing client needs, industry trends, and new technologies.
    • Demonstrate mastery of design tools and workflows (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) to streamline collaboration and productivity.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making
    • Blend creative exploration with data insights, incorporating learnings from A/B tests, analytics, and user research into design decisions.
    • Partner with analytics and strategist teams to measure the impact of design initiatives, iterating rapidly to optimize performance and deliver measurable results.
  • Client Advocacy & Presentation
    • Act as a compelling presenter and storyteller, persuasively explaining design rationale and connecting design decisions to business outcomes.
    • Build trust and confidence with clients through expertise, empathy, and a deep understanding of their brand vision and objectives.
    • Recognize and pursue opportunities for expanding client relationships through additional design services and thought leadership.
  • Talent Magnet
    • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing design team, ensuring alignment with Cro Metrics’ service offerings and internal marketing needs.
    • Partner with People Operations and Leadership to attract, hire, retain, and grow diverse design talent and manage a network of freelance resources.
    • Maintain a healthy balance between design excellence, client needs, and profitability, always striving for sustainable growth and impact.
  • Marketing & Business Development Contributions
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to develop compelling pitches, decks, case studies, and thought leadership content.
    • Evolve and enhance the Cro Metrics’ brand
    • Position data+design as a key differentiator in Cro Metrics’ offerings, driving client acquisition and expansion.
    Qualifications
    • Experience: 8+ years in design, including 3+ in leadership roles, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.
    • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to synthesize business goals, user needs, and brand narratives into impactful, metrics-driven designs.
    • Collaborative Spirit: Track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering open communication and respectful collaboration.
    • Operational Expertise: Experience implementing design systems, standards, and workflows for efficient, high-quality creative output.
    • Technical Mastery: Deep familiarity with design software (Figma, Adobe CS, etc.) and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends.
    • Analytical Skills: Comfort with data analysis, usability testing, and experimentation frameworks; ability to interpret and act on key performance metrics.
    • Presentation Skills: Strong communicator who can clearly articulate design strategies to clients and stakeholders, translating complex ideas into compelling narratives.
    • Leadership & Mentorship: Ability to inspire, develop, and retain top design talent while shaping a culture that values curiosity, humility, and shared success.
    Why Join Cro Metrics?
    • Impactful Work: Contribute directly to the growth of our clients and our organization by shaping design solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
    • Culture of Experimentation: We embrace data, test new ideas, learn from our experiments, and continuously iterate to drive real results.

    • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside smart, passionate colleagues who value innovation, empathy, and shared success.
    • Flexible & Remote-First: Enjoy the freedom to work from (nearly) anywhere in the U.S., supported by a culture that prioritizes balance and well-being.

    Compensation: $130-160k plus benefits.
