This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of the Financial Reporting team supporting a dynamic and high-growth organization that is radically changing the biotechnology industry. Moderna is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as well as other internal and external reporting requirements.
This position will report to the Executive Director, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting and Finance Operations, with a dotted reporting line to the Sr. Manager, Financial Reporting and Consolidation. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of US GAAP, can work independently, and has strong problem-solving capabilities.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Supporting all aspects of SEC reporting requirements, including preparation of SEC reporting templates and tie-outs of quarterly and annual filings, earnings releases, and proxy statements.
Collaborating with the General Ledger (GL) team and other key functions to ensure timely and accurate SEC reporting templates.
Preparing and updating internal reporting packages, including the CFO deck and entity-level financial statements.
Participating in the month-end close process for leases, hedges, and intercompany transactions.
Reviewing contracts for potential accounting implications in collaboration with technical accounting teams.
Supporting the consolidation process, including remeasurement, translation, journal entry preparation, master data maintenance, and data validation.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Championing ongoing process improvement and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Upholding and enhancing strong internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with SOX framework.
Supporting ad-hoc projects and analysis to prioritize company-wide impact.
Utilizing digital tools to improve reporting and analysis, aligning with Moderna's innovative and technology-driven approach.
Acting with dynamic range to seamlessly drive strategy and execution in alignment with Moderna's financial and operational goals.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
4+ years of combined public accounting and/or large public company experience, preferably in biotechnology industry
Working knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls (SOX)
This role is expected to be in office 70% of the time with flexibility to work from home up to 30%.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):
Chartered Accountant preferred
Experience working in a big 4 accounting firm, U.S. based public company, and financial systems including SAP S/4 Hana preferred. Workiva experience; a plus
Proficient in English (written and verbal communication)
Strong analytical skills and highly detail-oriented
Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively across functional teams
