COMPANY

L&R is one of the largest distributors and purchasers of cosmetics in the United States. We now distribute over 40,000 items (cosmetics, toys, school supplies, hosiery, hair accessories, OTC, HBA, and more) through 3 regional warehouse locations in Arkansas, New Jersey, and Nevada.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Associate Category Development Manager plays a crucial role by driving category growth through data analysis, market insights, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position involves strategizing, planning, and executing initiatives to maximize category performance and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct in-depth category assessments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to provide actionable insights.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to recommend assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Develop and implement category-specific strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure strategy execution.
  • Monitor and adjust strategies based on changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
  • Optimize product assortment and placement within the category.
  • Work with vendors to negotiate terms and manage product listings.
  • Implement planograms and visual merchandising techniques to enhance category appeal.
  • Create and execute pricing strategies to maximize revenue and margin.
  • Develop and manage promotional programs with suppliers that drive category sales.
  • Collaborate with Trade Marketing to execute effective trade promotions.
  • Maintain accurate category data, including sales performance, inventory levels, and market share.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to track category performance and KPIs.
  • Use data insights to make informed decisions and recommend improvements.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including retailers and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to align on marketing plans and sales targets.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of category initiatives.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in category management, trade marketing, or related roles within the CPG industry.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of market research methodologies and category management best practices.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If applicable)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
