The Role

Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) is seeking a strategic, innovative and results-oriented Vice President, Commercial Operations & Strategy for our 12B Tool & Outdoor segment. This critical role will lead our commercial excellence and capability transformation journey toward creating high performing work environment aligning processes, systems and people to grow the top line of the business and develop a customer centric culture throughout the organization.

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer for Tools & Outdoor segment, the VP Commercial Operations & Strategy will work across customer channels with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies that drive revenue growth, improve operational efficiency and enhance customer satisfaction. This position can be based in a number of East Coast locations, with a preference for Towson, Maryland.

Primary Accountabilities

The Vice President, Commercial Operations and Strategy will create a comprehensive sales excellence roadmap including change management best practice, identify sales transformational capabilities, refine the sales operating model and increase sales productivity. He or she will develop and implement standard work, training, coaching and ensuring sales processes are implemented properly across the business.

Commercial Strategy Development

· Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy that aligns with the company's overall strategic plan

· Identify market opportunities, competitive threats, and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of commercial strategies.

Sales Efficiency and Effectiveness

· Standardize and streamline sales processes to enhance productivity and reduce operational inefficiencies.

· Provide the sales team with the necessary tools, training, and resources to succeed.

· Implement best practices in sales operations, including forecasting, pipeline management, and performance analysis.

Commercial Excellence

· Drive initiatives to improve commercial excellence, including pricing strategies, customer segmentation, and go-to-market approaches.

· Lead efforts to optimize the sales funnel, from lead generation to customer retention.

· Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Data Strategy and Governance

· Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives.

· Establish data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.

· Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Enhance Data-Driven Decision Making

· Lead the advanced data analytics capability to gain insights into market trends, customer behavior, and sales performance.

· Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform commercial strategies and initiatives.

· Collaborate with business leaders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that drive business success.

Business Intelligence

· Oversee the development and maintenance of business intelligence tools and dashboards.

· Ensure that stakeholders have access to timely and accurate data to support decision-making.

· Continuously improve BI capabilities to meet evolving business needs.

Align Sales and Commercial Strategies with Business Goals

· Ensure that sales and commercial activities are directly aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

· Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that drive market penetration and revenue growth.

· Foster collaboration between sales, marketing, finance, and other departments to create a unified approach to commercial success.

Drive Customer-Centric Initiatives

· Develop and execute customer-centric strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

· Leverage customer insights to tailor sales approaches and improve the overall customer experience.

· Foster strong relationships with key customers and partners to drive long-term business growth.

Foster Innovation and Continuous Improvement

· Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the sales and commercial teams.

· Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to stay ahead of industry trends.

· Regularly review and refine sales strategies to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented, collaborative executive who embraces innovation and bold thinking for Stanley Black & Decker.

· Education: Academic degree(s) in quantitative business discipline(s), with meaningful coursework in economics, finance, mathematics, business, and strategy. Relevant advanced degree or MBA preferred.

· Experience: 10+ years of experience in a global consumer durables or branded goods environment leading a differentiated commercial strategy with a proven track record of exceptional team building, productivity and collaboration.

· Thorough knowledge of sales and sales management processes across multiple channels.

· Experience developing and managing transformation initiatives at an enterprise or business unit level, from inception through implementation

· Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with experience in market analysis and business intelligence.

· Expertise in working with C-suite leadership on critical matters that influence and define a business’ success and improve the odds of achieving.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

· Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.

· Ability to navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and think critically in a dynamic environment.

· Proven experience with Business Intelligence, Siebel or Salesforce.com is a plus.
