Job description

The Role:

We're seeking a skilled professional who thrives on optimizing and managing high-performance SQL Server environments. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust SQL Server databases that are not only secure and reliable but also highly available. What you'll do:

  • Manage iA’s SQL databases to ensure efficient organization, secure accessibility, and reliable data storage by configuring and overseeing user roles, permissions, and access controls. 
  • Install and update SQL database management systems to maintain optimal performance and ensure systems remain current and effective.
  • Monitor database health and performance to proactively identify risks and maintain security, recoverability, and efficiency. 
  • Resolve database issues using advanced tuning, indexing, and optimization techniques while performing routine maintenance tasks such as patching, tuning, and performance testing to sustain system reliability.
  • Collaborate with iA’s IS and development teams to resolve database-related issues, enhance application performance, and align solutions with business goals. 
  • Provide strategic guidance on database architectures to support scalability and integrate seamlessly with hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide data management strategies that align with the industry’s best practices and operational standards. 
  • Lead database consolidation and integration projects, ensuring smooth transitions, minimal disruptions, and the preservation of data integrity. 
  • Design scalable and secure database architectures to meet iA’s evolving business needs.
  • Safeguard sensitive data by implementing robust database security measures, including encryption and role-based access controls, to protect information and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and safeguard against system failures, minimizing downtime and data loss.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to data management practices, introducing innovative approaches to improve database performance and reliability. 
  • Mentor junior team members to foster skill development, collaboration, and a culture of technical innovation.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, recovery plans, processes, and operational procedures, ensuring clarity and accessibility. 
  • Regularly communicate updates, performance metrics, and strategic insights to leadership and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and enterprise-level database environments.
  • Expertise in writing SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and advanced optimization techniques.
  • Proven experience managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments, particularly with Azure SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of indexing strategies, partitioning, and database design best practices.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Profiler, DataDog, Redgate SQL Toolbelt, Veeam Backup & Replication, Azure Recovery Services, 

It would be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred
  • Advanced certifications such as Azure Database Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools like Datadog or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience in technical environments.

Compensation:

The estimated base annual salary range for this position is $96,546.40  to $130,622, though a candidate's base annual salary shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience. This position may additionally be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
