The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating Agile project management processes, ensuring that Scrum teams operate effectively and efficiently. The Scrum Master works closely with the Product Owner and development team to help deliver projects on time while following Agile principles and practice.
Responsibilities
Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies:
- Organize and lead daily stand-ups (Scrum), sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospective meetings.
- Ensure that Scrum events are productive and adhere to the timebox.
Coach the Team:
- Help the development team and the organization adopt Agile practices and improve their Scrum processes.
- Coach team members on self-organization and cross-functionality.
- Support continuous improvement by encouraging collaboration, communication, and transparent work processes.
Remove Impediments:
- Identify and resolve obstacles that hinder the team’s ability to meet goals and deliver value.
- Act as a shield to protect the team from distractions and external interference.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is well-prioritized and clearly understood by the team.
- Foster collaboration between the team, stakeholders, and Product Owner to deliver maximum value.
- Maintain open communication with all project stakeholders, ensuring expectations are managed effectively.
Promote Agile Mindset:
- Advocate for Agile values and principles within the team and organization.
- Help the organization understand the benefits of Agile and foster its adoption across other departments.
Facilitate Team Performance:
- Track team metrics (e.g., velocity, burn-down charts) to assess team performance and suggest improvements.
- Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Ensure Scrum Best Practices:
- Ensure Scrum practices are followed with a focus on delivering high-value products in a sustainable and consistent manner.
- Monitor the team’s adherence to the Scrum framework and Agile methodologies.
Risk Management:
- Proactively identify risks and help mitigate potential issues that may impact the team's delivery or the project's success
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, or similar) is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience (typically 4+ years) as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in an Agile environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including development, design, and product management.
- Knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and related tools (JIRA, Trello, etc.).
Skills:
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and mentor team members without direct authority.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to understand and address team and project dynamics.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Team velocity and sprint completion rate.
- Quality of deliverables (defect rates, user feedback).

- Effective impediment resolution.
- Team collaboration and engagement levels.
The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $73,008 to $170,640. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
