Responsibilities
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer, Integration to join our Corporate IT team based in our Canton, MA or Boston MA office. This position can also be located remotely within the United States. The Senior Software Engineer is an experienced technology individual contributor that will help create, define, and execute integration software solutions for Intact Specialty. The Senior Engineer role is a key technical role responsible for influencing the design of and executing the implementation of back-end integration technologies such as REST API, MQ, Webhooks, MFT, and potentially GraphQL, Kafka, and/or gRPC. This role demands a hands-on independent approach, with the ability to understand architecture direction and to mentor less experienced engineers. He/she will work closely with the lead engineers and technology architects to understand the business need, design and develop solutions to the software platforms, and create/update documentation of the technologies being developed. The incumbent is a passionate technologist uses this inquisitive nature to anticipate and test IT industry technologies and future directions and brings the results of that passion to benefit his/her software delivery. Some of the Senior Software Engineer, Integration responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop robust, scalable back-end solutions, focusing integration technologies.
- Collaborate with architects, other developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to align back-end services with client-side applications.
- Develop and maintain adapters and other tactical and strategic methods to integrate systems
- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and security practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in integration patterns and architecture, back-end development, and cloud technologies, applying them to improve existing systems.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in current technology and that of individual systems. Avoids the creation of tech debt, identifies tech debt quickly, and prioritizes the swift remediation of technical debt.
- Participate in code reviews and other activities to ensure code quality and performance
- Maintain DevSecOps scripts (build, test, deploy) and help implement automated testing and deployment
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a senior software development role, with a focus on back-end technologies, within an agile environment.
- Proven experience with microservices architecture, REST APIs, MQ / Azure Service Bus, MFT, Webhooks and other integration technologies (Kafka, GraphQL, gRPC) a plus.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot. TypeScript/Node.js a plus.
- Strong capabilities within SQL and NoSQL databases, with the ability to design performant and reliable data persistence solutions.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms like Azure, with a focus on cloud-native solutions. Experience with API gateways (such as Envoy) and Azure Kubernetes Service preferred.
- Experience in implementing DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Experience building security into the code side of the tech stack.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and leadership (by influence and example).
Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience, and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $122,000 – $162,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $142,000 -$166,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include:
