This position is under the supervision of the Division Chief of Comprehensive Neurology and Neurohospitalist Program, and Chair of the Department of Neurology. The duties of this position are in support of the mission goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine.
The incumbent will be scheduled for shift coverage of tele-virtual Neurohospitalist work to support OHSU Health. Work will include duties for OHSU, Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) in Hillsboro, Oregon, Adventist Health Center in Portland Oregon, and community based hospitals in the state of Oregon. Volume of work and tasks will be assimilated into role as virtualist program is implemented and growth and scope of services will expand external to OHSU in the future.
There will be on average 14 shifts/months. Shifts are 12 hours in duration and a combination of week days and weekend as needed; example is 10 day shifts (including one weekend: contiguous Sat/Sun day shift), and 4 night shifts
The Duties Of This Position Include
Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):
Assessing and treating teleneurology patients via video connection
Collaborate with other members of the team to communicate with and transition care back to the patient’s PCP in a timely manner.
Work in virtual hospital setting, using a video platform within the EHR to conduct urgent care visits.
Diagnosing and prescribing therapy based on visual assessment and patient-provided subjective data
Routing patient to higher level of care as appropriate
Routing notes to patient’s PCP
Referring to PCP when appropriate
Conduct urgent virtual ambulatory visits to prevent and/or provide follow-up to ED visits
Staff physician advice line calls (PARS)
Conduct internal and external eConsults
Required Qualifications
M.D. or D.O., and Board Eligible or Board Certified Neurologist.
Approved staff privileges at OHSU and associated OHSU Health sites
