We’ve made good progress on the UK’s path to net zero. But we can do better. Research shows that 100% renewable energy tariffs aren't actually making the grid greener. We have to go further. We need to save energy, use power at smarter times of the day and look at other ways to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

That’s where our Zero Carbon Living (ZCL) business comes in. To become the UK’s decarbonisation partner, ZCL will be the key driver in everything we do over and above our energy offer. 

We’re forming, incubating and growing new ideas that will change the way our customers consume energy. We’ll look at everything on their decarbonisation journey - from home and heating, to transport, solar and battery. We’ll work like a start up - using our entrepreneurial, OVO Way spirit to drive us forward. And we’ll be flexible about how we do it - trying new things, growing the ones that work and learning new, green skills as we go.

This role in a nutshell:

This role is part of the ZCL Home team - the team looking after all of our solar, storage and heat decarbonisation products - supporting the delivery of key projects, report on the health of initiatives and shape thinking in future innovations. 

• Build performance views of renewable energy assets, helping OVO understand passive vs managed devices and how we can optimise running of these assets to derive value for customers, the planet and OVO.
• Work within the team to contribute to delivering a time-sensitive programme (daily, weekly or monthly depending on the subject matter) of Commercial trading and Forecasting reports and analytics assets.
• Support projects like our Heat Flex trial, using exceptional analytical skills to inform the future development of flexibility propositions.
• Build robust technical solutions to deliver these analytics assets, including modelling and visualisations/dashboards 
• Ensure these solutions are stable and automated, utilising Dataform and Github
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the ZCL function to deliver analytics and data insights to drive their projects 
• Maintain a clear understanding of the ZCL business and its various products. Understanding how these products operate within the wider OVO business model
• Work closely with ZCL Home and Growth teams to inject data and objectivity into how we think about growing our business. You will lead the data-driven thinking around how and where we acquire customers and ensure we can do this profitably
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders within the ZCL business and the wider business - including Growth, Product & Tech and Finance
• Use data exploration and programming technologies such as BigQuery, SQL and Python to develop reporting and analytics technical solutions 
• Use visualisation tools within Google Suite: Looker Studios/Sheets and Thoughtspot to enable publication of reporting and analytical output in an interactive, user-friendly manner

OVO has led the market in launching customer centric energy products that intelligently charge home DERs (Distributed Energy Resources i.e. EVs/batteries/heat pumps etc) and help match renewable grid supply with home demand.  

This role will take the lead on providing the reporting and analysis for the ZCL Home team to enable OVO to continue to lead the market.

Your key outcomes will be:

• Establish and own key reporting and dashboards on the Battery Boost and Heat Pump Plus propositions. 
• Establish key reports and own the performance analysis of our SEG business 
• Collaborate with our Growth area to deliver clear analysis on lead generation and sales flows of various ZCL products
• Collaborate with colleagues in HEMS and flex to develop and deliver on a roadmap of data reporting and analytics

You’ll be a successful ZCL Home Data Analyst at OVO if you…

• Ideally you will be educated to degree level in a numeric, scientific or engineering discipline
• You will have experience in data analysis and programming, ideally with coding knowledge of industry standard languages such as SQL & Python.
• You will have experience with cloud platforms and their technologies, preferably GCP, Big Query/Datafrom
• Knowledge of visualisation tools such as Thoughtspot, Tableau, Power BI or Looker Studios would be advantageous
• You are keen to learn and are able to grasp the fundamentals of how the ZCL business lines work
• You don’t mind working with ambiguity and are able to pick things up quickly to move the wider project forward 
• You will be a motivated self-starter, with a creative approach to problem solving and analytical solutions development
• You are comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders at various levels of seniority
• You are passionate about supporting our customers’ decarbonisation journey and have a real excitement for our home energy decarbonisation mission and delivering the UK’s transition to Net Zero.

We’ll pay you between £30,720 and £41,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
