The Director, Data Analytics is part of the Data and Analytics Organization and is responsible for leading a team of data analysts and data scientists in the development and delivery of actionable insights and data-driven solutions to support strategic decision-making within the organization. The Director, Data Analytics work closely with leaders across the business and within the IT organization to identify and prioritize data analytics opportunities and help propose solutions that support the organization's goals and objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include managing the Business Intelligence (Diagnostic and Descriptive) and the Data Science (Predictive and Prescriptive) teams and all associated people, processes, and technology responsible for the development and delivery of data-driven solutions that provide actionable insights to stakeholders across the organization.
The ideal candidate has a knack for seeing solutions in sprawling data sets and the business mindset to convert insights into strategic opportunities for our company. The Director will work closely with leaders to support and implement high-quality, data-driven decisions.

The right person for the job will apply their knowledge of data strategies, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualization to inform business decisions and solving real-world problems faced by our company.
Additional Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Provide input into data the data strategy and thought leadership on analytics best practices.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of data analysts, data scientists, and other analytics professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team.
Data Strategy and Governance:
- Asist in implementing a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with the company's goals.
- Partner with Data Management to clarify requirements, coordinate testing, and ensure data is properly governed.
- Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Help drive the adoption of best practices in data management and analytics.
- Provides solutions that may set precedent or have significant impact.
Data Analysis and Insights:
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of large datasets to provide actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities, clarify requirements, and prioritize projects.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, finance, and operations, to understand their data needs and provide analytical support.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on data and analytics. Act as a liaison between the data analytics team and other departments.
Technology and Tools:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest data analytics tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Evaluate and implement new analytics tools and platforms as needed.
- Ensure the efficient use of existing analytics tools and resources.
Project Management:
- Manage portfolio of analytics projects ensuring adherence to deadlines/commitments.
- Prioritize projects based on business impact and resource availability.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, etc.)
Proven experience (typically 7+ years) in data analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. - Insurance industry experience preferred
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of data professionals
Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R)
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Hadoop, AWS, Azure) is a plus
Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading projects from inception to deployment
Knowledge of data management and data governance best practices is a plus
Presentation: must demonstrate clear, concise articulation of proposed actions, illustrating opportunity, alternatives, recommendation, and associated economics

Fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
Remote position with minimal travel required for quarterly meetings.
