Job description

The Head of Data Strategy, Acquisition & Governance (VP Level) will be responsible of all data initiatives at Trepp. Trepp is a data and analytics business. Our solutions are powered by analytical insights that we derive from large volumes of public domain, licensed proprietary. We are also trusted operators of a bank and life insurance companies as a key part of their risk management and regulation compliance initiatives.  

This role will work very closely with our product, technology, sales, and leadership teams and report to Trepp’s Chief Financial Officer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Data Acquisition: Lead the identification and evaluation of vendors from traditional industry sources as well as alternative data sources. Manage Trepp’s data acquisition budget, continuously making tradeoff decisions on acquiring new data assets and exiting legacy data domains. Establish working relationships with data vendors, negotiate the right terms of use to power Trepp’s product strategy. Ensure value realization by coordinating data acquisition efforts with product roadmap and delivery.
  • Data Governance: Establish a governance framework across all data assets and products. Maintain guidelines on terms of use. Ensure data governance compliance across product, technology and sales initiatives and to external contractual commitments.
  • Data Strategy: Develop a data strategy for Trepp across the various types of data assets that Trepp manages and commercializes. Make strategic recommendations to change targeted vendor relationships into strategic data partnerships.

 

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (MBA preferable) in business, management, finance, real estate, or information systems.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in successfully managing data partnerships, governance and strategy for SaaS, Data, Analytics products. Specific experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry preferable
  • Direct experience with and a working knowledge of data monetization is preferable
  • Direct experience negotiating content and data licensing agreements is required
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives and building organizational alignment
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication (written & oral) skills.

Workplace Policy:

NYC, Dallas, and London office-based positions: Trepp’s offices follow a 3-2 hybrid-working policy with the expectation of in-office work on Tuesday-Thursday and the option to work from home on Monday and Friday.
