This role in a nutshell:

Our colleagues depend on us to deliver a rich, safe digital workplace that is also a hard target for cyber threats. OVO has scaled rapidly in recent years, our processes and platforms need to meet and exceed those scaled demands.

You’ll lead technical strategy and operations for digital workplace technology (with a priority focus on Google Workspace) to achieve the best technical outcomes to meet OVO peoples needs, financial goals and industry best practice. 

You are a senior engineer within a squad of specialists and engineers - providing technical mentorship to others in the team and leading collaborative problem solving to complex digital workplace challenges.

 

Your key outcomes will be to:

  • Build a deep understanding of current and future internal stakeholder needs.
  • Lead technical standards within the Digital Workplace landscape - in alignment with security and architecture frameworks. 
  • Contribute to the roadmap and architecture design of internal tooling across the full lifecycle of the digital workplace.
  • Identify solutions to technical problems that balance effort and reward for the highest impact across all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across OVO Tech teams (and with Finance and Procurement) to contribute to build vs buy recommendations for relevant parts of our digital workplace.
  • Determine the design and approach to integrating other applications into the digital workplace experience as needed.
  • Contribute to and collaborate with the OVO Engineering Community within and outside the department

Extensive experience with:

  • Advanced Google Workspace Management (including administration, configuration and security posture monitoring)
    • Extensive experience with Google Workspace APIs and scripting (e.g., GAM, Apps Script).
    • Good understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its integration with Google Workspace
    • Expertise in configuring and managing advanced Google Workspace features (e.g., Vault, Workflows).
    • Ability to create custom Google chat apps and automation (using app scrip  and/or vertex AI)
  • Mobile Device Management (e.g. Google Endpoint Manager) & Enterprise browser management
    • Experience in deploying and managing chromebooks 
    • Experience in using Google endpoint manager to deploy BYOD policies with sufficient security controls
    • Understands best practices related to Chrome browser policies and security including DLP
  • Cloud Identity Management:
    • Able to design solutions to scale identity and access using google cloud identity
    • Strong understanding of Cloud Identity and its role in access management.
    • Proficient in  single sign-on (SSO) and SCIM provisioning using google for integrating with other applications. Should be aware on limitations and alternatives available
  • Security and Compliance Leadership:
    • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
    • Ability to conduct security audits and risk assessments within Google Workspace.
  • Architecture and Design:
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable and secure Google Workspace solutions working with an IDP solution like okta
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of best practices for Google Workspace deployment and migration

Experience with some or all of the following technologies and platforms would be advantageous:

  • Identity and Access Management and Privileged Access Management platforms (like Okta, EntraID etc)
  • Allowlisting (application control)
  • Issue and Project Tracking (Jira)
  • Workflow and process automation

You contribute to an inclusive environment where new ideas are welcome, there is open-ness to try new things to grow as a team. We’ll pay you between £53,550 - £77.400, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
