Senior Accountant

Job brief

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Accountant to join the Finance Department of a leading gaming and hospitality organization. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Deliver month-end reconciliations and assist in preparing year-end financial statements.
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
• Prepare and deliver monthly management reports and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Support payroll processing and review to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
• Assist with budgeting processes and internal financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including Superannuation, payroll tax, BAS, FBT, and income tax.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address financial issues and provide actionable recommendations.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accountancy, or a related discipline. Membership with CA or CPA is essential.
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in accounting roles, either in a firm or commercial environment.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in financial systems such as MYOB Acumatica or similar platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of Office 365, particularly Excel, for financial reporting and analysis.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with management and executive teams.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of statutory obligations and compliance, including tax-related requirements.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
