Job description

Corporate Contracts Manager

The role

The Corporate Contracts Manager is a member of the central led Supply Chain Team and is primarily responsible for contracts in support of Saab Australia’s Corporate projects and programs, including Software contracts and agreements for the wider business during both pre-contract (bid) and contract delivery phase.

The Corporate Contracts at Saab encompass a wide range of functions including facilities, ICT (hardware and software), Security, HR, Marketing and Communications.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Manage software contracts, including licencing agreements for the wider Saab Australia business.
  • Implement and manage contracts in relation to corporate projects and programs’, including but not limited to planning, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, execution, and management/delivery and close out.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with bid managers, project managers and business leads to ensure service delivery in accordance with the contract
  • Perform risk assessments, undertake due diligence tasks, participate in make/buy decision and provide subject matter expertise in support of the capture/bid/project team.
  • Engaging with the legal team to ensure commercial risk mitigation on contracts and agreements.
  • Develop project specific procurement strategies and plans in conjunction with the budget holder.
  • Lead tender evaluations in accordance with agreed criteria to achieve ‘best value for money’ propositions and drive efficiency and productivity for Saab and its customers.
  • Provide procurement related support as Supply chain lead to the business, including but not limited to:
    • New supplier assessment/evaluations
    • Conduct governance audits in conjunction with the quality lead
    • Manage contractual compliance
    • Organising and attending periodic meetings with Suppliers and other stakeholders in accordance with contractual requirements
    • Preparation of contract templates as required
    • Manage scope change, variations to Contract and S&Q activities
    • Prepare and provide input for Procurement and Win Business Gate reviews
    • Provide support to other Supply Chain team members, as required.

  • Support the development and updating of Contracts and procurement related policies and procedures to assure alignment throughout the linked processes
  • Comply with legislation and company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non- discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role post probation.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Strong understanding of the Software lifecycle and demonstrated experience with negotiating software related contracts, including licencing arrangements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Must have experience in software contracts and contract professionals with a legal background would be considered advantageous
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ‘end to end’ procurement process and experience in strategic delivery of complex contracts in a corporate environment
  • Preparation and presentation of slide decks for internal gate reviews as well as at customer reviews
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven commercial acumen with the ability to recognise issues and identify key risk areas
  • Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholders and build effective relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant contract law and broad experience negotiating legal terms and conditions with vendors, in conjunction with the legal counsel.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Australian and US Government Export control processes
  • A minimum of 5 years in a contracts management role, establishing, managing and closing out contracts
  • Exposure to the ASDEFCON contract suite (desirable).

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level or have the ability to gain one.
