Junior Attorney, Mexico

What's the role?:

HERE is looking for a Legal Counsel to serve as a commercial sales transactions lawyer based in Mexico.  As Legal Counsel, you will be part of a global team supporting legal transactions across the globe. Your stakeholders will be located in the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific Regions.  

You will be the legal contact for HERE’s licensing transactions, collaborating with peers on the legal team. Your role will include drafting and negotiation agreements, supporting business clients, and providing strategic, solution-oriented practical advice.  

You should be passionate for law and technology, and have a passion for learning about both our business and how HERE contracts with its customers. Having a positive and open mindset is key, as is a desire for continued learning and growth. You should be comfortable communicating with others in both legal and in the HERE sales organization.  You will be a member of a newly developed global legal transactions team, reporting to a lead based in the United States.  You will also be a member of the broader Global Legal Team, which is comprised of highly qualified and experienced lawyers located around the world. 

Your main responsibilities include: 

• Support transactional matters including license agreements, non-disclosure agreements,  while following a pre-defined process for deal negotiation and escalation.
• Advise senior management and cross-functional teams regarding HERE’s operations globally, highlighting potential legal risks and compliance obligations.
• Negotiate and draft  commercial agreements, including license agreements, RFP/tender responses, professional services agreements, and respond to legal requests from HERE’s business with a focus on intellectual property and licensing of HERE’s location technology to customers.
• Answer questions of HERE business stakeholders on appropriate processes, solutions, and addressing concerns in a pragmatic manner.
• Working independently with HERE’s internal business clients, supporting end-to-end negotiations and execution of contracts.
• Collaborating with both business and legal colleagues across the globe on a variety of matters, including conducting training for the business, and identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
• Providing support for other legal projects as needed.

You are a strong candidate for this role if you possess the following skills, competencies and experience:

• You have a Licenciatura  (bachelors in law) or a Maestria in law.
• You have a  strong communication skills with a willingness to be a problem solver.
• You are eager to learn about the HERE Way of deal negotiation, and able to follow a process/protocol for such reviews.
• You have experience with negotiations (including in a non-legal role). 
• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and management skills, with proven ability to manage many simultaneous contract negotiations within required deadlines.
• Ability to work well independently as well as in a cross-functional team and build rapport and trust with internal clients and external customers.
• A positive and solutions-oriented attitude with the ability to provide practical advice in a changing work environment.
• A keen interest in technology, mapping, and location services (or interest in learning about it).
• Some flexibility in work hours, to accommodate time zones around the world.
• Strong collaborative skills, including a willingness to help across the legal team.
