Job description

  • 2x Full time, fixed term for 12 months
  • Exciting opportunity to be a Research Assistant with the School of Medical Sciences 
  • Base Salary from $86,511 + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science education in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.   

The Research Assistant contributes to research activities including conducting clinical neurological research and performing laboratory-based assays. The role will support research via development of research protocols and driving the execution of research activities. The role includes data acquisition, clinical studies, sample processing and assay protocol development, data management, data analysis and research management and reporting. They also collaborate with researchers and stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to the design and development of research protocols, ensuring timely execution of research activities
  • coordinate and submit grant applications, ensuring compliance with all requirements
  • provide guidance on research regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring projects align with standards
  • assist with data collection and analysis, ensuring data quality and accuracy
  • manage the documentation process for research publications, from drafting to submission, and maintain comprehensive research records
  • coordinate with the team to produce quality reports, verify data accuracy within university systems, and actively engage in compliance initiatives to uphold regulations
  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

  • experience in working in a research-intensive environment
  • experience coordinating and/or managing grant application process
  • experience in research administration and conducting scientific literary searches
  • experience in carrying out literacy searches and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
  • you will be an excellent communicator both oral and written 
  • tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
