Workday System Lead

Summary of Role

The Human Capital (HC) Team is looking to add a Workday specialist to own, manage, and administer our newly integrated Human Capital Management System. This role will execute proactive and strategic support to HC teams for process excellence and tool optimization. This role will own and configure system updates, provide troubleshooting support, manage security roles, and proactively conduct system testing.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • System Configuration and Maintenance:
    • Configure and maintain Workday HCM system, including core HR, Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Time Tracking, and other related modules.
    • Manage and Implement system upgrades and enhancements as released by Workday, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
    • Configure and update business processes, security roles, reports, and dashboards to ensure they meet company requirements.
  • User Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide day-to-day support for users of the Workday system, addressing any issues or questions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Work closely with the HC, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure proper functioning of the system.
  • System Testing and Validation:
    • Proactively conduct system testing, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), for new releases, features, and functionality.
    • Validate and monitor data to ensure accuracy and integrity of information within Workday.
  • Security Management:
    • Manage and configure security roles and user access to ensure appropriate system access based on job functions.
    • Audit user permissions regularly to comply with internal security and privacy policies.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Create and maintain custom reports and dashboards to support business operations and decision-making.
    • Provide ad-hoc reporting support to management and stakeholders.
  • Training and Documentation:
    • Develop and deliver training materials and documentation to Workday users, ensuring they are aware of system functionalities and best practices.
    • Conduct training sessions for new users and existing employees as system changes occur.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with IT and external consultants/vendors to ensure proper integration between Workday and other systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and ensure Workday processes align with business objectives.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess and recommend improvements to Workday processes and configurations to increase efficiency.
    • Stay up to date on new Workday features and functionalities and recommend relevant improvements for business needs.


Required Qualifications

 

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience administering and supporting Workday in a similar company environment - configuring and maintaining Workday modules such as Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Recruiting
    • Expert in Workday reporting, security, and integrations.
    • 7+ years of experience working in human capital management systems
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Workday certification (e.g., Workday HCM, Workday Reporting, Workday Integrations).
  • Experience in Workday payroll or integrations with third-party systems.
  • Knowledge of HR business processes, including recruitment, compensation, performance management, and talent management.
