Provides vison, leadership, operational direction, and oversight to functions that influence our patient’s experience with the revenue cycle including hospital registration, financial clearance, and customer service. Overall responsibilities include development and oversight of operational plans including financial, systems/processes and internal controls for assigned patient financial engagement functions. Drives best in class customer/patient experience, while collaborating with key operations leaders to achieve well defined business goals. Ensures that the assigned functions actively engage in continuous process improvement to enhance performance and patient satisfaction and ensure quality standards are met.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, health administration, or related field
EXPERIENCE:
1. 7 years of management experience in healthcare revenue cycle
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related clinical degree
2. Master’s Degree or Professional Certification
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience performing assessments and clinical integration projects in healthcare revenue cycles
2. Record of success managing complex projects with multiple, diverse stakeholders.
3. Prior experience with Epic
4. Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to WVU Medicine.

1. Senior position over patient financial engagement processes for all WVU Medicine providers. Creates exceptional
customer experiences by ensuring that patient care and experience is the focus for assigned functions. This includes
understanding changing customer expectations and seeking innovative ways to create excellent service.
2. Directly oversees Enterprise Director of Patient Access for Registration, Enterprise Director of Patient Access for
Clearance, and Enterprise Director of Customer Service.
3. Provides strategic leadership to patient financial engagement department through innovative ideas, reasoned risk taking,
and thoughtful and thorough implementation strategies.
4. Understands the business of Healthcare by keeping updated and understanding applicable federal/state laws and
regulatory agency standards. In addition, keeps updated and understands current trends in Healthcare and Healthcare
Revenue Cycle and incorporates these trends, as appropriate, into assigned functions.
5. Makes timely decisions and maintains a broad perspective in proactively identifying problems, opportunities and solutions.
6. Effectively manages resources by using innovation, actively participating in setting the Revenue Cycle division budget,
and creating workloads that are appropriate for the resources available.
7. Continuously improves work processes leading system wide process improvement initiatives, seeking opportunities for
improvement where others cannot and effectively separating tasks into efficient work flows.
8. Engages with clinical areas as needed to properly incorporate patient financial engagement activities into the patient
throughput cycle.
9. Analyzes and improves department performance in areas of patient calls, estimate accuracy, pre-registration, and
satisfaction.
10. Accountable for revenue cycle patient access and SBO performance to Revenue Cycle VP, Hospital CFOs, physician and
ambulatory leadership, system and entity boards of directors and other internal clients.
11. Promotes and contributes positively to the teamwork of the department by assisting co-workers, contributing ideas and
problem- solving with co-workers as observed by VP.
12. Participates in performance improvement through attendance and participation in staff meetings, committees, task forces,
cross functional groups, projects and discussion with hospital staff as observed by supervisor.
13. Monitors data against regional and national benchmarks as well as industry leading key performance indicators.
14. Produces monthly revenue cycle dashboards and other performance metrics to quantify and define opportunities and
issues.
15. Sets strategy and provides superior knowledge of business processes and enabling technologies, specifically in patient
digital engagement and access functions. Is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and enforcement
of revenue cycle policies and practices for the WVU Medicine enterprise.
