Job description

Hudson Global Scholars is an online education services provider to private schools and families. We partner with schools to go online safely and efficiently. We enable schools to use their own resources and staff, backed by HGS expertise, faculty, curriculum, and technology. We present a flexible program that meets the changing needs of schools now and in the future. HGS operates a variety of accredited online schools that provide partners and families with compatible education, affiliation, and articulation.

The School Counselor at Hudson Global Scholars (HGS) is dedicated to supporting students' academic journeys, fostering engagement, and ensuring they achieve their goals, including timely graduation or program completion. This role monitors individual progress, identifies barriers to success, and collaborates with educators, administrators, and families to implement effective interventions. The counselor also provides high school counseling services, including course advising, transcript analysis, and Common App support, while contributing to systems that improve student outcomes and overall program success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor academic progress for individual students and cohorts, identifying those at risk.
  • Develop and implement personalized interventions to address barriers to learning and promote success.
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional managers, and school leaders to address academic concerns.
  • Communicate regularly with families and stakeholders, providing updates on student performance and recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee credit requirements and graduation plans for degree-seeking students, ensuring alignment with academic goals.
  • Maintain and update records of student interactions, interventions, and outcomes to track progress effectively.
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, propose solutions, and refine intervention strategies.
  • Recommend and implement tools and tracking systems to enhance academic oversight and student support.
  • Facilitate communication between internal staff and external partners to coordinate support for student success.
  • Assist with course advising, transcript evaluation, and planning for graduation or program milestones.
  • Provide recommendation letters, manage Common App submissions, and maintain school profiles in relevant platforms.
  • Act as a resource for teachers, families, and students, offering guidance and general counseling services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, special education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in high school guidance counseling or student support services.
  • Proficiency in implementing multi-level support programs to enhance K-12 student achievement.
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and educational technology tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including international students and families.
  • Knowledge of virtual learning environments and strategies for supporting remote learners.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Key Attributes

  • Proactive, solution-focused, and collaborative.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset to identify and resolve challenges.
  • Passionate about improving the student experience and achieving positive outcomes.

This role is instrumental in helping HGS students reach their academic potential by providing continuous support, strategic guidance, and innovative solutions to promote engagement and success.
