Job Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of inventory accounting, reporting, and cost analysis across all Tactacam business locations. This role works closely with both Finance and Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate recording of inventory transactions and plays a critical part in inventory management, analysis, and reporting processes.
Responsibilities:
● Partner with Operations to maintain accurate inventory balances.
● Perform month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries.
● Analyze monthly inventory and cost of goods transactions, providing clear explanations for results.
● Monitor open inventory purchase orders and collaborate with Operations to ensure effective PO management.
● Support physical inventory counts and system reconciliations.
● Participate in inventory-related audit requirements.
● Contribute to business projects that impact inventory processes and system improvements.
● Create and maintain documentation of processes and controls related to inventory valuation.
● Identify inventory process gaps and control weaknesses while recommending solutions. ● NetSuite system responsibilities:
● Ensure proper recording of inventory transactions, identify system issues, and lead corrections.
● Confirm product costs and freight costs are set up accurately, identifying and addressing discrepancies.
● Conduct ad hoc analyses, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
● Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
● 5+ years of experience in cost accounting.
● Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
● Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (NetSuite experience preferred).
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
